The cheapest spark plug in stock anywhere for a FRICKEN STRAIGHT SIX TRUCK is $5. :flipoff2:
I am a use copper plugs in most every DD junker and replace em every 30k kinda guy, well the times they are a changing and I cant even get a copper plug for this automobile.
I sure don't trust leaving a plug in any car for 100k, never have never will.
30k Miles on an 03, should I change em ? Run em ? Pull em all, look at em all, re nevr-seize em and put em back or just drop the $30 for a new set of super AC plugs manufactured in the USA with quality Jap NGK parts. :rolf

I also plan to flush all the dexcool out and replace it with green. :thumbsup

Thanks for any advice. :headbang

I would definitely change out the dex-crap for the green, but what kind of plugs are in there from the factory...??? Double platinum, iridium, paper, etc.....

I think I remember one part folk saying it was iridium.
Most the plugs they were hawking were double plat minimum all the way up to Bosch 4's, same for Ngk's and Autolites.

Well then double platinums are factory…..

You should be good until AT LEAST 50k miles unless something is not right. 100k is definitely pushing it if you ask me but 50k should be no problem, however you should be good until 75k. I wouldn’t bother pulling them now but for sh!ts pull them at 50k and see what they look like and go from there.....:)

I take it the 4.2L takes a long-threaded plug? Do they make a LTR5? I'd go to the store and see if a LTR5GP is the same size as a regular TR5 ($1.99).

I'd just pull them and look at them/regap. Then put antiseize on.

so 30 every 30,000 miles is too much $$ for maintenence?

^^ kinda thought the same thing... plus Autolite plugs are listed on Partsamerica for 2.79 apiece? double platinums 3.99. buy them online and pick them up

$30 isnt dic, good point.
Its still a low performance straight six truck that should use copper plugs IMO.
I think the engine is designed by Isuzu like the durajap, anyone confirm ?

Still havent decided what to do with it plug wise, I think I will pull one and check it. Cheapest in stock plug in my locale is $4.
Online Autolite, Allied signal=no thanks. :thumbsup

Preciate the advice.

It's a straight six. It works great for what it was intended.

Just inspect the plugs you've got and re-gap if necessary. There is more than enough power to light up a platinum plug on that engine. There's no reason to replace a plug unless it is physically damaged or it's gooed up beyond repair. Antiseize it and call it a day.

You'll get more money back out fretting about synthetic fluids than spark plugs. And don't piss with the wires unless they're actually bad.

I guess I shouldt talk too much trash as Ford has that ridiculous $10-15 plug in the 3V modulars, what a real pos that plug is.

Going with the $5 Bosch double platties. :goof

You might be able to get Bosch plugs from Amazon or Wal-mart cheap. Just a FYI.

I can't stress this enough, BOSCH ARE JUNK...!!!

With only 30k miles they are going to be fine and you will NOT see one ounce of improvement in both performance or MPG with new ones. Just leave them in and check them at 50k, no need to piss $$$ away.....:durr

My GTP came from the factory with Iridium plugs...fuckers were like 7.90 a piece! Fuck that noise, I'm just running Autolite 104's 1.69 a plug and change them every year.

i don't understand, are you knocking Autolite plugs? or the online dealer or what? with Partsamerica, Advance's online site, you buy them online, then pick them up in store. costs cheaper then buying them there. as for Autolites, as it was said above, Bosch are nothing but trouble. i've run autolites in EVERY domestic vehicle i've owned, and have never had a problem. they run the things in Nascar for god sakes, i think they're more then okay for my DD V6. L67 owners use Autolite 103 and 104s religiously, and have ZERO problems that i've seen. and many run big power with them.

Yea I dont particularly like PartsAmerica or Autolite plugs.
PartsAmerica has 3 stores here I stopped at one location yesterday, they had 8 in stock on the computer but only 4 in hand, I called another today and she said she only had 4 in stock on the computer, the $2.79 Autolites that is.
I think I'm going to choose the $5 Autolites from the Zone. I just dont like allied signal stuff that much.
Surprised I cant get some Champs for it, I would take Champs over Autolites. :thumbsup
I don't mind conventional plugs either, but as always the times they are a changin.
