Had my first catastrophic tire blowout last week. Was bringing a few retaining wall blocks home and I guess having 1" larger rims and 200 lbs of block in the back doesn't work out too well. The capacity of the WRX is 900lbs... but with the larger rims, the tires bottomed out on a suspension piece when I hit a dip on the interstate.

Unlike a Ford Explorer the WRX didn't suddenly swerve off the road, roll over and explode into flames. :D It was more like... pop... okay what the hell was that noise? Fortunately there wasn't any damage to the car or the rims.

LOL at the Ford Explorer comparison.

Did you go pick up all that block that was listed for free on craigslist? If so, you bastard! Someone beat me to it.

Isn't stuff like tire blow-outs, brakes going, spin-outs on wet-pavement fun???? Just thinking about it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.............;) By the way, glad you and your car are OK.

It wasn't block listed on Craigslist... it was some block to finish our retaining wall from HWY19 Landscape Supply just outside of Waunakee.

I loaded up the Spyder (passenger side floor/seat) with 105 paver bricks this summer, I didn't even think about a tire blowing out... just thought of the extra weight as a large passenger.

Well, I might have been okay had I been on the stock rims.
