so i haven't had any real good bites on my car... i lowered it to 4000 about two weeks ago. and i just got a call today with a kid asking to trade it for a 1996 blazer 4x4 120xxx miles. i looked online and the only thing that questions me about it is the gas milege, seeing as i deliver pizza for a living, but i do need a car thats good in winter. so i don't know what to do. should i trade him? does anyone have an experience w/ these cars? are they reliable?
thanks guy/gals

I say tell him no trades and sell it. If you sell it you could always just buy his car. Does he have his car listed??? If so how much does he have it listed for??

Blazers are common for the failures of the following: Intake manifold gaskets (can lead to engine failure), transmissions are suspect, the fuel pump WILL fail, A/C compressors, combination switch (windshield wipers/cruise control/turn signal stalk), tune ups are expensive, steering/suspension parts are garbage (ball joints, tie rod ends, idler and pitman arms) power window motors and switches, four wheel drive switches and actuators (electric and vacuum). Alternators fail commonly. They get shitty gas mileage.

Aside from all that, they are wonderful.

Don't buy anything until you talk to me... I might have an alternate source for a different car for you.

:rolf Hey look, the same problems EVERY vehicle has with high mileage!!!

The Blazer I picked up for Lisa gets 19.7 mpg consistantly and had very little problems when I purchased it. I replaced the fuel pump and fixed a minor wiring issue, it just rolled 146,000 miles.

No kidding. These trucks are reaching 250000 miles with ease, apparently everyone is dumping millions into them to keep them running :rolf

2 or 4wd...???

I also beg to differ on the EVERY vehicle statement, I love Fords :goof but I know (and admit) they aren't anywhere near other makes as far as reliability/engineering/etc.....

2wd, I don't think a 4wd blazer can do 16-17 mpg hwy.

I got 23mpg in my 2002 2 door 4x4 blazer with 4 people in it on the way back from Mercer....of course that was non ethanol gas. I got a max of 21 on the way up there.
