Alright - my dad's wife teaches at UWM and last night her car was stolen. Driving one of the most commonly stolen vehicles sucks - they called the police....just posting it on here just in case anyone knows anything or if anyone sees anything. Thanks!

1995 Honda Civic DX hatchback Red
automatic, 170,000 miles, dented hood, left tail light broken,
VIN #2hgeh2467sh504649
lic# WDP - 523 Wisconsin

Popular by civic guys because it has NO options....no radio, manual windows/mirrors, etc. People have left notes on her car saying they wanted to buy it....she didn't understand why....I guess it was only a matter of time before they just took it. :flipoff2:

Wish I was home.......:chair:

Best of luck to her finding it in one peice. If it was stolen yesterday it could already be in a buncha peices...

Just a side note, I never knew they made 'em radio delete...

damn that sucks. I'll keep my eyes pealed but most likely people that live on the northside should REALLY keep a eye out. I believe this is the second civic stolen this year. Well at least the second one posted on this site.

Sorry to hear that, sad to say but Joe is probably right.

On another note isn't the automatic an option?

sorry didn't realize the post police would get me on such a small charge. fine...car has one option - automatic transmission.

I don't expect anything to be found...just putting this out there in case anyone sees anything. She had insurance on it so she's covered that way.

It sucks having a car stolen. I had a RX7 Ripped off over 15 years ago. I was taken on a Friday evening and recovered by Milwaukee PD on Sunday evening. I did not find out until Monday because it was at a service shop. I was ran off the road on the way to work Friday and had to have it towed. The PD thinks I was set up because there were five cases just like mine that same weekend. Three involving RX7's that were all recovered but nothing was remaining. Take the insurance money and move on. Remember you can dispute the amount of the pay out.

yea sorry bro but its gone....that car probably has a new motor and trans already, new hood etc. The cops won't find it cuz they don't even bother to look I think. Really sux this stuff has gotten so bad in our area.

Of all the things to steal and goto jail for, why a civic? A Judge won't care if it's a Corvette or a Civic.

I'm sure civic's are alot easier to steal then a corvette.

When I worked security/surveillance for Harrah's Casino we had a women come in saying that a car she had stolen was sitting on the back of a flatbed truck in the parking structure. The oddity, it had been stolen from the same parking structure........5 years prior to her finding it again. The police showed up and sure as hell, the VIN numbers matched.

My shift was over so I do not know what happened after that but still made for one great story.

In reality a civic may be worth more on the black market and over seas. Cars are stolen for parts not the whole car. The most stolen cars are always the most produced cars. Civic's, Taurus years ago, mini vans, camry, etc.

its got nothing to do with getting a job and buying your own car, do you really think someone is going to steal a car and use it as a daily driver? this car was chopped and abondoned before the cops probably even got the report it was missing.

Thats why I get annoyed at the top 10 list of stolen cars...gee, what a surprise its usually the most common vehicles with a few others mixed in. Good point about fighting the insurance company on value, if you think its worth more, dispute it. I've heard enough stories especially with older cars not being valued correctly, whether its insurance trying to screw them or just not having a clue and the owner will go back and forth and get more out of them until its "fair".

Sorry to hear about it though, I parked my cars at the UWM campus all the time during my years there and never had an issue and sometimes drove my Montes, which are nice theft targets. Tried to park on the northern side of campus not that it made a difference. Hondas are obviously popular with some dirty people who like to chop them up, I also heard they are very easy to steal too.

no I was referring the pos who stole the car in the first place....too lazy to get a job, and instead has to make money off of others hard work

Every time a civic is stolen that is high in the racing market as far as rare or modded cars go i say drive around 35st and vilet area to the 27th street area on the north side. i know of at least 3 people now where thats where some have popped up. and also is a high recovery area of stolen honda vehicles that have been torn down.

the south side im not too sure about. there is a common stolen civic found areas in the city by serious theifs. if you know any cops i would ask them. some districts do know.

Thanks everyone! Car was found today.......in a police impound lot. The story as told by the police is that there was a complaint about her car being parked too close to a driveway (something which she is very careful about not doing) and since her parking stickers blocked her vin # they couldn't ticket it so they towed it. Either way....why did it take 4 days to find when the police are the ones who have it? And since when do you need the vin to ticket a car?

I forgot to post about this but the same thing (kind of) happened when my father-in-law's `90 Accord was stolen. It was found sitting in back of an apartment complex off of 27th and just south of I-94 with three parking tickets on it from the City of Milwaukee. He obviously reported it stolen immediately but nobody noticed it when giving him the tickets after the car sat there for an entire week.....

Not to mention the City of Milwaukee wanted him to pay the tickets.....:rolf
