Just picked up the car a week ago. My first V8, previous car in sig. I'm a fan of the clean look, I hate euros, body kits, lambo doors, etc. It's a 5 speed with 40k miles. Only thing done to it is a Flowmaster cat-back (came with it when I bought car), tint, and shorty antenna. Anyways, here are a few pics...

LOL yeah it sucks balls... o well, the mod bug has hit me early... first is exhaust and gears, then the shifterI hear ya it happens to all of us. I mean it is a great over all car, but there are areas that can be improved on (sound, getting tid of the 4x4 look, getting rid of the crap stock tires, shifter). For me my plan is to get the stereo done now that I won that sub and enclosure package from the car show, then gears and exhaust and a tune....this winter I want to do suspension and engine work to it........

This is true... I'm still an LS1 guy, but this car is my dd and i have to park it outside so I didn't want to get something I'd feel THAT bad driving, plus mustangs are a little more comfortable than LS1s (probably because mustangs don't have enough hp :goof)

Congrats on the car... Another shifter to look at is a Steeda Tri-Ax. I had one in my 6-banger new edge and loved it... However that transmission was a T-5 variation (either T-5 or T-45) The shifter takes about... 45 min to install (no matter which you get)

Heh, another one :)

Don't get a tri-ax... all you hear is gear noise lol. I love my pro 5.0. Only gear noise you hear is a little in 5th gear when it's cold.

I got a bassani catback and cai on my 04 gt daily driver. If you're gonna drive 'er in winter get some blizzacks or something for it. Then it REALLY becomes a fun car when in the snow :devil I just run some crappy 16" alloy wheels with some 10 year old blizzaks and I love swinging the ass end out on a turn in the snow freaking people out hehe :) Don't try to drive it in deep snow with the goodyears lol.

Also, verify now whether your car is optioned with ABS or not. It was supposedly standard on GT's and mine was originally bought without it (got my car used). I only found out about it during a panic stop where I flatspotted my tires to avoid a truck coming into my lane. Had I known I'd have just swerved into the trouble lane to save the tires.

IMO, bullit wheels on new edge mustangs FTW.

Don't you have to have ABS in order to have traction control?

You're assuming I have that too :) I dont, there's just a blank black button where the T/C button should be. The wiring harness is there behind it too, but no T/C.

I didn't know it was an option on GT's, unless the guy that originally bought it ordered it that way. my T/C GT owner friends are all jealous I think lol.

Only gear noise you hear is a little in 5th gear when it's cold.

I was told by one local dealership that "that's normal" (I still have a factory shifter) where I was told by a different dealership to bring my car in to get looked at, that it might be munching a bearing... Mine's a CPO, so I'll be taking it in to get looked at...

animal
09-04-2008, 12:20 AM
I'd say it's not normal when it's a stock shifter, with the pro5.0 with how solid it is, I can see how some noise would get up through the shifter. Doesn't help I have a metal ball on it either.

When i say cold though, I mean below 45 degrees. I basically only hear it during the early morning from november-march. Usually gone by the time the engine heats up and starts spewing heat from the vents.

FTR it's done that for almost 25k miles :D

the way I look at it: if the stupid 3650 "transmextion" goes on me, it's just a good opportunity to put in a t-56 and really get some good mileage :devil

UPDATED PICS
9-11-08

Just tinted my tail lights using the blackout vinyl from stangmods.com. Here is a little review for anyone thinking about using them.

The good - the tail lights look great. Applying the vinyl was easy, just take your time and follow the instructions. 10-15 minutes. Check below for pics, I'll let you know if I get any air bubbles but so far so good! For those of you worried about your lights (especially when you brake) not showing through, don't worry. The tint allows PLENTY of light through, check pic below (braking).

The bad - the side marker tint sucks. The pieces (make sure you put them on the correct side!!) are slightly too large and don't stick as well at the tail light vinyl did. I will probably be taking them off in a day or two.

I guess I never understood the whole TINTING of tailights thing. :confused

Not only is not safe, the cops will bust your balls. Looks aside, Ive got enough problems with the cops.:rolf

VroomPshhTsi
09-12-2008, 09:02 AM
How is it not safe? When I have my lights on, you can barely tell I have anything on my tail lights. When I hit the brakes my lights are as bright as normal. The tint isn't nearly as dark/illegal as blackout plastic covers that some people do.

Plus idk about you but blacked out lights on a black car = amazing. Atleast IMO.

O well, to each their own....

Next mod: exhaust. (IMO anyway) Those stock tips always look WAY too small for those cutouts in the bumper :) Keep an eye out, there's always used catbacks for sale for like 150-200 bux. I have to get under my car this weekend because the cat heat shields are driving me nuts with all the rattling.

*EDIT* unless those aren't stock tips and they're just small. I'm a little spoiled cause bassanis always have 4" tips to fit their optional baffles.

That's my friend's house. Yeah, his gf lives in the Falls so he drives through there a lot.

I'm STILL waiting on the o/r H, been on back order about 3 weeks now. Not really happy about it, but no one else has them in stock either (mac prochamber). I was told sometime this week but we'll see

i've listened to hundreds of exhaust clips, wasted way too much time on youtube and streetfire and different exhaust web site clips... i've heard nothing but good things for MAC and good stuff about pypes and bassani, the pro chamber is good at WOT and a little quieter than most at idle which i like in case i'm sitting next to a cop at a light

after i cut the lawn today i cleaned the inside of one of my rims (got too dark too fast to do the others)... took some before and after shots for fun, just used a little soap/water and a chrome polish (didn't spend that much time on it seeing I only had about 10 minutes left of light)
