Best mufflers

I have a "matter of opinion" question to all of you reading this: What is the best-sounding muffler/resonator for a muscle car? By "best" of course I mean most aggressive, scary-sounding, intimidating, etc.......Please describe the sound of your fav muffler, as I am currently indecisive as to which one I want to buy, and I need some advice! Thank, all.

well, flowmasters can sound good, but flow like crap, so id say for a sound only muffler, get that, but i do like some of the turbo mufflers as well.

Open headers sound awesome, but I doubt the cops would be too happy........I should have mentioned in the firstpost, I'm looking for performance as well as sound........I have had a few people suggest dynomax........anyone have anything to say about those?? Good? Bad??

personally i've heard a Hooker Aerochamber on a 4cyl and it sound pretty mean on that so i could only imagine how mean it would be on a V8

I love the SLP 2OTL catback on my car. It has long tubes with no cats and sounds stock until you punch it. When its wide open it screams. SLP is the best for f bodies. Why dont you tell us what kind of car it would be going on that way you can get better answers.

Schoenfield mufflers. Basically like a tractor muffler with louvers in it. Small packaging (almost same size as pipe) plus cheap. Have a DEEP tone at idle. Grand national dirtrack guys runnem, like 25 bucks. Flowmasters are awesome but at like 2200 for a long time they will make you want to go to sleep, seriously NJ at least on 5.0 stangs.

the best sound in the world has to be flow master but like said they kinda flow like crap. I have one on my car with long tubes and love the sound but i'm afraid to even know what power is lost if any with the exhaust

I have those on my stang they sound great. Really nice sound even though all I have is mufflers and stock everything else for exhaust.

Totally depends on the engine and the rest of the exhaust setup.

I wouldn't trade the sound of my long tubes and Hooker aerochamber for anything (LS1 f-body). I get TONS of compliments on the sound. No rasp, nice tone, not obnoxious at idle, and it screams at WOT.

MAC FLOWPATH MUFFLERS FTMFW!!!!!!! Mac is one of those companies that doesn't get the resect it deserves as being one of the sexiest sounding chambered muffler......very deep and aggressive. I highly recommend you check them out:shades

mufflers sound completly different from one car to another. My 50 series on my truck sounds completly different from from brother's true dual exhaust system with 50 series. I've heard spintech's on cars that sound absolutly wild, and I've heard the same muffler sound like some dirt ron chevy 1/2 ton. Thank you all VERY much for your help/advice/suggestions, I really appreciate it. I decided to go with Flowmaster super 40 series, they have that "special" sound I want so bad. I'm sure my neighbors will all be thrilled, lol........>:>

I had Mac mufflers on mine, they droned worse than my flowmasters. i took the Mac off and threw them in the garbage pail.

Yea I guess if you want to be obnoxiously loud and barely out flow my exhaust (which sounds stock until wide open throttle) by a couple rear wheel horsepower. Your just asking to get pulled over with true duals. Waste of time on an lt1 f body.

I have had more exhausts on more cars in the 35 years I have been driving. I love my Macs personally but what I have will be different on another car based solely on what extent your car is built....so comparing is pointless....almost. Flowmasters sound good...

as to Dan's car.....I personally this it sounds badass at idle and whenhe rips it..it has that center exhaust "rasp" like vette has. kinda...

and I agree with Badass..I have nothing but Mac on my car and it drones at 2100...but above or below sounds good and when I stand on it....someone once said that was next to me on the highway(durtykurty)...sounded like nothing but pure evil.....
