Im not sure posting this in the for sale/wanted area will help...

Im trying to help a kid out who's 98 4.3 computer keeps dropping
out with good ground and power. Im just looking for a 2 minute
tester or cheap purchase (maybe from a v-8 swap?). After doing
this for years I dont want to suggest he go get raped by GM until
Im 100% sure. These older CMFI 4.3 will run with no programing
so a good used one will plug and play.

I've got my scanner monitoring it, no shorts or reason to worry
about a test, I can plug his into your running vehicle or vise
versa there will be no harm done. Would take me about 2 minutes
to confirm the complaint, I will bring the beer!

Russ, I found out when I had my 96 that the early 96 ecu's had a grounding issue between the 2 sides of it. To be safe you might want to only try a 97-98. Theres a service buliten about the ground thing and theres a way to tell if you have the bad one or not by the serial number but I don't remember what the numbers are.

Your limited to 96-00 for the PCM by the way, they changed it over to the more common 2 plug bundle vs 4 of older ones starting in 01'

Good info, I never even checked my Alldata for anything like that
will check the pinouts. I opened it up with no burns or heat I could
see.

I was just watching it idle, wont tach past 2500 as it stubles like a
fuel issue (newer pump, good pressure) and the O2's show super
lean while both fuel trims go to 99%, inj drivers would apear to be
failing or some power/ground issue internaly (13.v to ecm).

how many miles are on it? Common problem with them is timing parts getting sloppy.

Also I had a issue with my fuel pump that caused a lack of power. Showed plenty of presure on a gauge at the schrader valve. Guy at the dealership said that it wasnt flowing enough volume though. Replaced the pump and it was fixed.
