I just got my car insurance premium. The current six months for my 2007 G6 and 2008 G5 was $794. The six months starting in October is going to be $1,017. Anyone else see such a giant spike? That's like a 25% increase... I was expecting like 7%.

I go through an independent insurance agent... the insurance is through Travelers though.

Either get your agent to get you new/cheaper insurance, get another agent, or go with gieco/prigessive/etc

Why the increase? Get a speeding ticket?

I agree with pOrk... You shouldn't have an increase unless you got a speeding ticket, in an accident, etc.... Technically your rates should go down, mine always do...

Switch Companies.

Sometimes, they will raise the rates on you. Just about any company can potentially do that.

Try AAA.

i know a few years back my insureance went up a little bit b/c my agecny (americal family) paid out on a lot of big claims in a very short period of time...but it only went up like $20 not almost $400

The only thing that changed is that we traded in our Michigan driver's licenses for Wisconsin ones.

I guess I'll complain to the insurance lady. R&R sent me a quote in da mail that I opened today and quoted $11 less for 6 months on the G6. They don't know about the G5.

So, I griped to my insurance lady about my car insurance going up a couple hundred bucks and two days later I got a new bill for $794. I actually can't complain about two cars with full coverage for six months for $800.

Now I just got to figure out how to get my renter's insurance that went from $112 to $164 figured out and my cable bill that went from $92 to $118 figured out. haha. The last two weeks haven't been kind to me.

For a year. I think I'd be talking to your insurance person. Even craptacular State Farm is only $15/month for around $50k.

Over 25 y/o

renters is 15/month like you said(somewhere close)

Hell my "busa was only 18-19/month for full coverage:)

PLUS, i like when they send me some of my money back from not having any claims

They both suck. Travelers came out with a new program this summer. Tell your agent to re-write you on their new program.

I just got a quote from my insurance broker today for $1625/yr for auto AND homeowners insurance from Accuity. I'm also getting better coverage now on top of it. I had been paying mid $700s every 6 months for just auto insurance through AIG with full coverage on my Mustang and liability on my winter beater. This decrease probably has quite a bit to do with me being over 25 and having a clear record now compared to when I started my previous policy when I was 22 with two tickets on my record. I highly recommend Robert J Feest and Associates, they search through all the insurance companies and always come up with the lowest rates for me. I've tried getting quotes online and nobody ever comes close.

Do you pay your bills on time? All of your bills? As of recently Insurance companies are looking at you credit record. Bad credit, much higher insurance. Good credit, insurance may actually go down.

I'm well north of the 720 minimum. My girlfriend, who is also on my insurance, is even a couple dozen points above that. What kills me is a careless driving ticket 4 years ago and last summer I backed into a tree. I thought stuff was supposed to fall off the record after three years...

CobraSnake

I believe its 5 years.

xxsn0blindxx

5 years is correct. One other thought is some companies will give you a discount if you let them wire the money out of your account every month.
