I want to get a portable GPS....
I would LIKE to have one that has:
LAND and ROAD
Free or reasonably priced updates
Under $300

Anyone have one they would recommend?

Not Sure EXACLTY what you want but Cabelas is blowing out the Garmin NUVI 200W for $170. Killer deal I think. Great Unit.

Well i want one that has road maps for driving (obviously)
And one that does land maps... Because i want to do geocaching

/\/\ I use one at work, i like it a lot, if i wasnt so good with directions i would scoop one up.

Not Sure EXACLTY what you want but Cabelas is blowing out the Garmin NUVI 200W for $170. Killer deal I think. Great Unit.

My parents got it and love it (plus it helped us find my grandpa!). They also picked up the $25 holder for it so it can sit on your dash, seat, etc. without leaving a ring on your windshield. Certain people see that ring and assume the GPS is in your car and will break in and steal it.

i picked up a magellan explorist xl last fall and love it. it takes a bit to get used to but it is super rugged, has a large screen, has never lost the signal in the woods, and has survived -30 degree temps. the new magellan triton line is supposed to be pretty damn good too.

go with the garmin i just used one the other day and it did wonders for me.

any GPS unit will do "wonders" if you don't know where your going. I myself have a TOM TOM XL. It works great but I have noticed sometimes it is a little off.

I have a NUVI 350 and LOVE IT ! But, If I was to buy one now it would be the NUVI 200 WIDE instead as it has a wider screen and is cheaper....The 350 I have does all sorts of extra stuff compared to the 200W but, I NEVER use the added features that I paid extra for....
