Where to find a used car under 1200?

Hey my friend would like a cheap reliable car. I'm wondering if their are any around here under 1200.

Try some of the local garages...sometimes you can get a car for quite cheap if a customer didn't pay on his/her bill and the mechanic takes ownership of the vehicle. My buddy sometmes has to do this, but he doesn't have any on his lot currently.

Check the classifieds here, there is a cheap older Cavalier for sale that should still be available. I've had good luck finding reliable beaters...never had one let me down and I've had a few! And most are much less than $1,200...assuming your friend doesn't care how it looks too much, just function over form, a winter beater type car.

This is his first car, and he wants to not have to pay for repairs. I'm sure theirs some car thats in decent shape for that much money.

I have bought quite a few lately from the boards and have good luck with them. I have a 1988 Taurus that drives and runs great! Power everything, 4dr, auto has some rust on the doors and doorhandles though. Its a solid car but nothing pretty but is a great driver. I drive it to work dowtown everyday with no problems. I also just bought a Bronco but I am keeping that one;)
