Everything seemed to be going their way. They had the lock out and the ignition turned on. If the solenoid wouldn't have been disconnected it would have run. When it wouldn't go they bailed and left the ignition turned on so when I found it both batteries were dead.

The first thing I noticed was that the lock button was up on the passenger door. I thought, "Sh*t, I forgot to lock the doors"..... when I got towels out the day before.

So I opened the passenger door to hit the power lock and that's when I saw the ignition lock gone.

There was no sign of a break in so I was second guessing myself as to whether or not I had left the doors unlocked overnight.

Not so.......I found that the latch on the sliding rear window is broken.

man that is just sicking to see. I can't believe that some people refuse to work for a living and they work at making other peoples life a living hell by stealing. Its a good thing you took that extra step for the starter relay. It just sucks now you have to mess around with your insurance and take the time out of your life to take it in to get fixed all because some a$$hat doesn't want to work for a living.

wow that is crazy someone tried to steal it. But wouldnt the "vats" system still kick in and not let it run even if you had not disconnect that wire?

I thought about that too but my 2001 Super Duty just had plain jane normal non-chipped keys so maybe those don't have any kind of anti-theft system.

The pats system was a option that year...the truck does not have the pats option....

Would it even let the glow plug timer kick the way they were trying to do it?? Or is it a 5.4 or V10? Nice save though, +1 for ford using them 1960's style solenoids yet on newer stuff that allows an easy protection method.

You just gotta do certain things in the auto theft capital of the world A.K.A. Detroit.
For 65% of Detroiters poping that chinsy lock cylinder out is probably a 2 minute walk in the park.

Great save and that Galaxy looks awesome.
