Can you turn old car parts in for cash at any local recyclers?

Have a stock 351 crank, cam, pistons, rods.

Also have a honda civic block, crank, pistons, rods.

Any ideas, or just trash them.

It wouldn't be worth your time to take it in, unless you have nothing else better to do. Any $$$ you'd get from it would be spent on gas to and from the scrap yard, unless you live VERY close to one.....

Look on Craigslist for free scrap metal pickup, or you could even post an ad in the free section for free scrap metal. You should be able to find somebody to take it all no problem.....:thumbsup

I live very close to one, I took 8 pistons/rods, half of an exhaust system, a couple waterpumps and some other junk and got $15 for it all.

Metal prices are very high right now, take them in. Don't just throw em in the trash. Honda engine blocks are aluminium, but might be bought as breakage which is less money.. Unless you can show them it's 100% aluminium. They're buying old car batteries for $1 to $2 bucks a piece now, you couldn't give them away a couple, of years ago. Why give the stuff to someone who picks it up for free for you. At least you can get a case of beer at the minimum.

I just got rid of a bunch of batteries in Michigan for $6/each. They were up to $8/each.

Pellet type catalytic converters are worth $60. Large monolithic ones are going for $150.

I got $200 for a 4.3L 91 longbox chevy Pickup. No catalytic converter. I stripped it of all the good stuff. Still had the engine and transmission.

I got $300 for a 92 2500 GMC van. No engine or transmission or anything useful left in it at all.

All of this was *they* came out to get it and hauled it away. Usually my Dad saves scrap for the guy and as trade the guy will take tires for free. There is even money to be made in tires.

I work right across from the racine(on hwy11) recycling joint. Just check and it is still kinda low. Only at 63 cents. It was in the 80s this past winter. I was shocked to see it so low now as most metal has gone WAY up recently.

^^^Those guys at that Miller location are ripping their customers off for some reason.
Waukesha Iron will add 25% to most all their prices and Miller Compressing's Bruce Street yard will also add about the same.

If you got time to post on a forum you most likely have time to stop at a scrap yard and get some $$$ for garbage, maybe the trip needs to be combined with another trip that takes you close to a scrapyard.
Many people are combining trips in this day of CHEAP petrol, only 3.75 a gallon for low test. :banana1: :thumbsup
