Check this out 1 mile flying start to see how fast your car can go. Man I would love to do this. Maybe next year when they do the spring event.

Now that would be exciting, espically if you have something really quick.

which I do not, but it would be fun just to see what my toy could do.:)

I think it would be a blast to watch. Do they post mph's on a digital board like at the strip?

How long is the track, I was trying to find it. I know the OP said you get a mile flying start, but how far after that?

I think it would be a blast to do. It would be fun to top the car out in a controlled environment.

Yeah, that would be a hell of a lot of fun. I like the thought of trying to bury a 180MPH speedo.

About a 1/2 mile to slow and turn around...

I wonder how fast my Mustang will go with some 3.55's in 4th gear at 6500rpm.... well I figure 140mph... in 5th .62 ratio is 225 mph:rolf

The current Supra record is 229.7MPH. That was done by Boost Logic with a BFT, so I think I'd be lucky to crack 200 with mine. I think the top speed on a Supra is about 225@7000RPM in 6th. BL changed tire sizes so they could change the final drive ratio. I've seen video of a BPU Supra doing about 175, but I'm not sure how far it took them to get there.

I'd also be nervous about my EGTs getting too high for a lengthy run like that. Think I'd want a chute too... just in case. :D

I know what the valiant would have done...112mph...would have hit that shortly after the 1/4. If I kept my foot in it, I'd have dumped all my parts out the bottom end b/f the half mile, lol.

With the upcoming enine in the Coronet, if I kept the current 2.76 gears and could overcome the tremendous drag so as to redline it in third, I could hit a theoretical 175, provided no slippage of the converter, lol. Current engine is a theoretical 146 @ redline....but that's all top speed though, not standing mile.

I figure the Coronet could eek out a 105-110 as it sits currently...sad, I know.

The cobra sees 140mph quick but after that the .6 drag coef. is tough to overcome. That and the steering gets really light right about then making a top speed run a little too hairy for me.

Yea I think I'd be too scared too. Something about 180mph and a 240sx just makes me cringe. I really don't think I trust my car enough... It doesn't take much at those speeds to make you loose control.

would be fun but my car would top out b4 the mile was over... 4 speed auto and 3:73's

.32 drag coefficient here... the spoiler on the back produces 60lbs of downforce at about 60 mph... but some sort of frontal spoiler might not be a bad idea to keep the nose down. Heh, I remember the first time I hit a whopping 120 in my first V6 Fiero. The air being rammed up under the front of the car was so strong it pushed the headlight covers up (which were sprung, so it took considerable effort).

.125" plastic sheets + rivets + duct tape = downforce!!!:headbang

i know for a fact that a SP850 turbo on a built motor pull the speedo well past the 180MPH mark for atleast 10-15 seconds still pulling so i'd assume your car would be right around the 200mph mark.

Well at least I got that part covered... then all I'd have to worry about is not flipping the car like that RX-7 on the salt flats.
