Does anyone around here buy cores? I've managed to collect entirely too much crap. Now that I live in a part of the world where you can go to the auto parts store on Sunday I no longer need to keep a stash of parts.

One of the things I've managed to collect are automatic transmissions. While I was at my parents' place rummaging through my trailer I quit counting the number of TH350s and 700R4s once I ran out of fingers. All of them moved the vehicles when pulled but it's been at least a year since I yanked the most recent one so the fluid and whatnot have been exposed to the air for at least that long. Are there any places around here that buy cores?

Chevy bellhousings? Those are getting to be quite a big $ amount for them, TH400/TH350's

I think when I talked to a place in germantown, it was $150 for a chevy for a corecharge and only 75 for a BOP, for the TH400

Waukesha Iron or Miller Compressing will probably give you $30-50 each, something that shifts out good usually brings $100-200 on craigslist. IMO

Yeah, everything I'm getting rid of would be for a Chevy. I have a bunch of TH350s, both 2wd and 4wd, one or two are 2wds with lockup converters. I've got even more 2wd and 4wd 700R4s. I don't think I'm going to give up any of my TH400s or 4L80es since I don't have many and I don't have any 4L60es. When I lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan it was cheaper to buy a whole vehicle for its parts than buy some of the parts you needed. Due to the economy in Lower Michigan it's gotten the same way there so there isn't a lot of demand for parts (plus the working man doesn't have a dime to their name anyway).

I can get $60-70 per transmission/converter for scrap in lower Michigan but that seems like a waste of a non-"done blowed up" transmission.

I'd like to find a good rebuildable BOP TH350.

Lemme know if you have a decent one. This would be to rebuild and put in my car.

True, but this is the fourth year of high scrap prices. Between high scrap prices and everyone getting into the "late model only" salvage game there aren't many left out there. Even Ford AODs are becoming rare and nobody wants them. haha.

I suppose I could. I've had poor luck with craigslist around here. I won't let someone I don't know come to my place and have had poor luck with people showing up to agreed upon meetings.

There seems to be a shortage of those around here. I've only got one spare so I'm not going to give it up.

I think I might have one attached to a 350 Rocket out of a 70 or 71 Cutlass but no guarantees. I might have a BOPC 400 from behind a 500ci Cadillac somewhere. I'll look next time I'm at my parents'.

I have a fixed yoke Chevy TH400 that works out of a 1991 Suburban. Basically the last year for TH400s in passenger cars. Anyone interested? I can bring it back after Christmas.
