Sussex Car Show 8/16/08 [Archive]

Just got bits and pieces on this show tonight...i guess it been on HOT ROD radio..and in the paper...and if you were at Lannons show you got a flier.....it starts at 8 am and trophies are at 3 i think....so if the weather is nice and you want to catch a show...Sussex is the place sat....the show is in the park on 174 just west of the fire dept and VFW post....at the end of town...if you go past the bowling alley...tooo far....that's all i got...if anyone knows Sussex...you know the town is not that big and you can't miss it..i'm sure there will be signs as well.....

what can i say..i just found out about it...:thumbsup

Yeah, it's right off main, you can't miss it. Pretty small show when I went to it 3 years or so ago. I have heard it's gotten alot bigger since then.:thumbsup

^^^^that's what i was told...i guess there trying for 150-200 cars...not bad for Sussex....if they do get more like ST DOMS...great for them,.....shows have to start somewhere and grow...

I was there last year. Ide say about 150 cars and 1 badass pro street vette. Yeah and leaving the show last year was a good time. Ide give this show a 8 out 10 worth making the trip.

I am assuming its a show mainly geared toward the classic hot rod community? I don't want to make an a$$ of myself like when I rolled through the Lannon one with the 7.

Show was a good time last year, but it started to rain late afternoon. That pretty much ended the show, but that was the best part:devil
and that was a badass vette:)

Yes, I will be there. Prepare to be unimpressed, my car is plastic fantastic, santa's sleigh, candy cane, peppermint patty, or any one of 5 zillion other names it's reffered to as on this sight, but all agree regardless of what they call it, that it's fugly:thumbsup

My name is Bob, I will be in a Fielder jersey more than likely, come on up and introduce yourself, would love to see what you've done with the ride as well, always good to see other S197 folks at shows and swap ideas!!!

I don't think Patty is fugly.......I'm not into new cars, and I am mostly a GM person, but calling her fugly would be just plain mean, and not a very cool thing for anyone to do. I have said many times I think she's a darling little car, and it strikes me as so ironic how everyone thinks I say that to be a b*tch, when I am being honest. And, hell, if she resembles a peppermint candy, so what? Everyone loves those! (at least....I do......)

Yeah was that thing nuts or what??? Or the military truck that the whole front end was a plow, did you get to hear any of the service guys stories about those things? During blizzards they use them to pull out snow plows, lol. If the snow is below the windshield, it's all good!!!

Ha freaking awesome, that thinks got to be a tank to drive. I really like the CJ7/CJ5? jeep with the really high intake and exhaust stack....that thing could go through some nice mud. I would have brought my car but I didn't think it would have fit in well. You going to the 23rd show at Project Two?

There is nothing to not like about this show, just like I said in an earlier post. Good grilled food, burnouts, over 200 cars, this show is a MUST attend!!!:thumbsup

i had a blast..met up with old friends from years past......a little burnt from the sun...but didn't mind...the show was great for it's 2nd year.:headbang..you guys should put it on the calendar for next year..:headbang.i have a feeling this show will be a huge show next year and in years to come...I'd say around 245 registered cars and total close to 280 total this year...i may be wrong,,,,,but close to the numbers...
the quality of the cars at this show was amazing..the car that took best in show was a copper 67 Dodge Coronet..this car was like it just rolled off the show room floor and was in a capsule till the show...full documentation...hands down a show stopper...:thumbsup
very well organized show as well...hot food and cold beverages as well....
and hot women to pose with your car...:D :drool:...always a plus....
Congrats to the Sussex Lions for putting on a great show....
Can't wait till next years show for sure...:thumbsup

That Coronet was simply stunning. Correct stickers in the correct locations, even had the radiator tag on it, lol. Yeah, it was THAT nice. Good to see some fellow BCMers, meet some new people:thumbsup

Put this show on your schedule, it's VERY worth it.
