I'm hoping track pads will make them better, as I wasn't too impressed as of now. I was told with the Hawk HP+'s that they need to get hot to really work well, but I got them plenty hot around town and then to Chicago and back last weekend and was disappointed.

Fun part was driving down to Chicago (took some back roads as I stopped and looked at a car for sale) and waiting at a stop light to see the guy next to me look over with a confused look. Especially this guy in a truck, as he kept staring at the car, trying to figure it out. Was hoping to line up next to a vette, but didn't drive near any on the way down.

Brake setup looks nice.

I had no idea Vette brakes would fit on the Taurass.

I'm assuming you need different wheels too... like 18 inchers

Throw some C5 Corvette wheels on her.

Throw some C5 Corvette wheels on her.

That would require the Corvette bolt pattern, which isn't the same as a Taurus. (:

All of my 17x8 wheels fit, which surprised me because one set that Adam just picked up that I am not a big fan of and didn't think would fit over them actually do.

Oh yeah, not much left inside the new car either:

I had no idea you took that car to that level... you even cut the inside of the doors out.

I can get away with using the 13" rotors I was using previous (for '94-'04 Cobras). I know you can use either 1.10" or 1.25" wide rotors with these calipers too. Currently have a two-piece rotor that came with the calipers on the car now that came from TCE Performance.

I had no idea you were that tall, I'd never be able to see over the steering wheel with no seat..................

New rule starting now, Corvette calipers are ok on Ford cars, but the Mustang.

So these calipers just bolt on? What advantage do they offer over the cobra brakes?

The bracket requires some work to make them work. As far as advantages, these are the C5/C6 calipers, which are actually different then what I had before as the C4 are virtually the same as the Cobra calipers that were on the car (and will probably go back on as they are prettier and I am all for the car being pretty and Adam can have these big red things on his - the cobra calipers were machined and SHO was engraved in them and filled in with pink). The C5/C6 calipers are larger, allowing more pad to be on the rotor. They also allow for two different width of rotors (1.10" or 1.25").

The car may not be fast, but I can brake deeper into a corner!

Nice! Are those the C4 ones or C5/C6?

C4's I think? It came off an early 90's Vette. Calipers look great on the SHO, can't wait to see it person. Cheers!

For anyone else tackling this, remember there are the regular c5 brakes, then the c5 z06/regular c6/GTO brakes. My factories are 12.9"ers There should be a difference between them, I'd assume.

Wow looks really good. That's a lot of brake for a tauras , what tires do you run?

What was all required to make them fit and work?Id almost consider a set fo my sn95 if they wiegh less then my factory ones.

Looks like a nice economical alternative to the big name bbk's. Are the caliper piston sizes similiar to stock? If not how is the front to rear bias now?

Here are some pictures of the other car. Still weight to be removed.

Should be a lot easier to get a nice roll cage in it versus my red '90 since I wanted to keep my interior, dash, carpet, etc. Adam's going light-weight with this one, so only one seat too. So far, I am liking the numbers/weight distribution after putting it on the scales as we got it and then again the other night.

The Corvette brakes will be going onto his car once it's track-ready. We'll probably keep them on my car for an Autobahn event next month just to see how they do at a track event compared to the Cobras.

Nice Brakes Michelle!
Yes, any race pad has MORE FRICTION when at temperature, over 500 degrees.
BUT, even at steet temperatures, Under 300 degrees, a Race Pad still has MUCH more friction than street pads.
I just used Hawk HP+ pads, at RA & BFR, and yes, they GRIP MORE when hot!!!!!!
meaning after about 4 Braking zones they are warmed up to race temp!
I run my Race pads ALL THE TIME. I can not stand street pads on the street.
the street pads require way to much pedal pressure, than i am used to runnin the car at the track!

Im not a Corvette guy, but as far as I know the C5 regular and Z06 shared the same caliper. Only thing I noticed different was the Z06 calipers are painted red. Yes Corvette rotors are 12.9" but the brackets we have use 13" rotors.

You need to first purchase a set of Baer GT caliper brackets designed for a 94-04 Mustang. (SHO's share the same mounting locations as a Mustang) The problem is no one will sell the caliper bracket without selling the whole brake kit. Once you get the calipers brackets, the Corvette calipers will bolt right up. Standard 1 piece Cobra 13" rotors work, but aftermarket 2 piece rotors will not fit as the center hat diameter is to large. The rotors we have are made by TCE performance. He make the Alum hat with a smaller diameter to clear the caliper bracket.

If you have any other questions just ask.
