I have a question for anyone that knows: what cubic inch size are the engines of semi-trucks? It is something I have wondered, but never asked anyone.

most are around 15L. +500hp. cat is no longer going to be building a OTR engines due to emission compliances. basically it came down to that there engines couldnt stand all the detune for emissions and the R&D that they would have to spend on it wasnt worth it. they are going to combine with navistar (powerstroke) to continue making power in heavy equipment where they have been doing well in for so many years. 2010 Ford will no longer be carrying navistar engines "powerstroke" but will have a new engine by scorpion diesel. i dont know if they are going to carry over power stroke on the new engine or not.

Most of my old mans trucks have various cat engines, most 400+hp. Two have cumins and one has 550 and pulls like a freight train.

most of them are 800 cubic inches or more, that is in the tractors. Straight trucks and such tend to have smaller engines, but the big rigs you are talking about are quite beefy, and are inline 6 cylinders
