Gettin ready to fire up the Polaris soon, I love the smell of two stroke exhaust!
Hopefully we'll have some decent snowfall this year so I can do some local riding.

Anybody else into sledding?

I live for snowmobiling!!

I have a 97 (yes 97 proto type) XC 700 polaris,a 87 Vmax 540, and a 76 john deere 400. I am rebuilding the carb for the john deere right now on my desk. :haveabeer

I think driving some sledes around is the only off roading I haven't done yet in my life. Maybe some day I will get to try it out but know me I would probally want to buy one after my first ride

I hope we get some decent snow this year. I bought a new sled two years ago and it still has only 72 miles on it.

Well, yeah I used to throw my money down the shitter with those things not to mention a few near-death experiences. For the 2 weeks of the year you get to ride them....not worth the money. As far as my brand loyalty goes, I would stick with Arctic Cat (F7) or a new REV 800. Polaris and Yamaha=junk. My last sled was a ZRT 600 w/PSI race set-up.

Yeah im into sledding, but unfortunatley its not a main priority so i own a piece of s*** 91' Arctic cat Cougar L/C 440, its a tank and ugly yes, but the focker actually woke the hell up due to clutching and putting in 144 studs and has no problem with dusting off comparible sized 440's after some suspenion tweaks so it launches. I was thinking of a motor swap to a 500 out of a ZL but its really not worth it to me.

2000 Polaris 600 XC SP

Stock...

Its kept up in Eagle River by my old man..... We usually head up to Michigan to ride... but if there's enough snow in Eagle River, we'll just ride to the end of the driveway and get on the trail right there....

Our family just sold our last Scorpion. Haven't ridden in a while - no snow around here.
But it's an addiction I will eventually relapse to.

HAAHAH yah i have a feeling its gonna be another terrible snow year. Well if your into grass draggin sled this is the place to be LOL. Thats about all you can do with it around here, i pulled mine out friday proceeded with making my parents WILD by driving it around the yard and tearing the fuck out of it, my mom is always really impressed when she sees me go ripping past the back door at 30 mph with the ski's 6 inches off the ground just comfortably rested against the rear suspension limiters traps and im standing on the back bumper just along for the ride LOL..

Sorry to break your heart Joe... but i dont own an Arctic Cat by choice... im BIG Polaris guy all around but just cant afford one right now because i prefer to mod my car so i fart around with tuning on old heavy junk.Hey i actually made this turd that i got have a little reflection. Who says elbow grease dont pay off in polishing a turd :goof

Cool...:thumbsup
We usually head up to the Rhinelander area or lake Gogebic in the
UP. Last year the snow was so deep on Gogebic, you could stuff the front of your sled under the snow an make an instant face blizzard. That was fun but the trails sucked because lack of snow forced everybody to the UP and the trails were beat to hell.

I just picked up an 01 XC 600 with the variable exhaust, what a friggen beautiful machine to ride. Very snappy on the trails and 103 mph on the lake is plenty fast for me.

My friend has a 01 800 xcr. We were looking at psi big bore kits on the net. They make a 1500 kit for his sled, puts down a little over 310 HP and 265 Torque. Now that would be a lake machine!!

Tom I agree with your decision with the old boy. For the priced of a good used model you can have an ATI kit for your car and USE IT!!

Snoseeker....I got to ride Cesar Creeks 95 Mach Z back in the day on Random Lake when the had a Crank Shop 99X cc motor in it!!! WOW!!! I have riden thundercats you name it but this thing made Dennis' car feel like a VTEC(no offense). We all know Rotax is the LS1 of snowmobile motors whether you want to admit it or not

I love snowmobiling. I used to do dirtbikes, but that wasn't nearly as fun. I have a 96 Polaris XLT special. It is bored, and ported with slight headwork. Also have an 86 Yamaha Phazer. That one is piped, cluched, and studded. Then there is the 76 John Deere Liquifire 340 with lots of motor work done. Not too many 340's go 80+ mph.

Yeah I wonder why......that is like trying to autocross a 1976 Caddy Eldorado. Suspension is deadly.

I sold my sled about 3 years ago when we stopped getting snow. I had a 95 Indy 500. Sweet sled but i was getting sick of having no snow. Ill buy another one some day.

I have always been a big Polaris Fan, but I Picked up a Heavily modified 98 Ski-Doo Mach 1 for a song a few years ago. Gets me where I need to go on my sled trip and other than being a god damn tank, it makes for a pretty good ride. Hopping for a good winter one of these years... Bring on the snow! :thumbsup

Unfortunately that isn't going to cut it when the ground is this soft. However, if anyone is interested in an up north trip, let me know.

Sounds cool!! I'll keep my ears open for snowfall. My friends are up there every weekend, so I will hear when the trails look good.

Check out www.johndee.com for daily weather updates, forecasts and trail conditions up north.
Lake Superior is going to turn on and bring 1-3 FEET of snow to most areas of the UP, over the next 4 days.

I'm leaving for Lake Gogebic on Wednesday night:haveabeer

I love the Lake Gogebic area! A bunch of us have been making a yearly hike up to Houghton for the past fear years. We are going the last week in Jan this year. Hope mother nature keeps bringing it.
