The last of the letter series 300s, I think. The H stood for Hurst, the shifter people. A guy had a new one in my old neighborhood. I thought it was the neatest car I'd ever seen. I was only 15 at the time. Every once in a while I see one at car shows. This was the ultimate muscle/luxury car. Competed with Buick Riviera GS and other large performance cars.

I've also never seen or heard of one of those.. pretty neat car..

And yeah I'm guessing the H stands for Hurst.. Considering the emblem..

It's not part of the "letter" series...the first/only 300H appeared in 1962, powered by a cross ram 413 wedge. Very funky looking car.

After 65, the 300 name continued, sans letters. I can't recall when the 300 series stopped, but I do know after a while of no 300's, they made a one year return on the '79 chrysler cordoba.

This, imo, was the last GREAT 300's, despite it not having a letter...the hurst editions cam with basically the same 375hp Magnum engines that you got in the chargers, cuda's, etc...they called the engine "TNT" as that was the chrysler moniker for hipo engines, but it wasn't the detuned 350hp "TNT" 440 engines found in most chryslers.

Having owned two "C" bodies, I can attest that they are tuned quite different than most of Detroit's big cars of the time...cornered quite level and sure compared to it's competition, and rode a bit more stable (no wallowing along interstates). For it's time, these were very sure footed cars.

Very luxurious for the time...telescoping steering wheels, electric seats, electric windows, high fidelity stereo's, etc.

Car also feels huge! The B-52's got it right when they sang "Hop in my chrysler it's as BIG as a WHALE!...."

Not having driven a Hurst edition, I have owned a '72 chrysler new yorker...440, 350hp TNT engine backed by 2.76 gears. It was fairly quick, running a best of 15.9 @ 89 mph doing a peg-leg burnout the first 50 feet down the track. My brother would swap in 4.10's to get it down to 14.9.

Love the then "futuristic" fuselage shape...particularly in the chryslers, the shape was loved.

Two other performance C bodies were available...one was the Sports Fury GT (375hp 440 again...road test had it as a 14.9 second car wit 3.23 gears and suregrip) and the even RARER Fury S/23 that came with the 335hp 383 coyote duster engine (exact same heads/cam as the 375hp magnum, so the performance was not dissimilar and HP was arguably underrated)...which was recorded going 15.1 in the 1/4.

It's a tough call which looks better...the sports fury GT:

or the hurst (see above)

or the s/23:

My vote is a tie b/w the Hurst and Fury sports GT...the S/23 lacked some of the hotter colors to make it blingin' wow...

I actually had a 70 Sport Fury 440 automatic exactly like your pics, it was an off white like the color of the S23 you pictured.
