I've been trying to get into Waukesha Engine for about a year, it's a real difficult place to get into. You basically have to know somebody to get in. Luckily I do. I got a job doing Engine Assembly on 2nd shift. They build massive engines, up to 4400 horse power, mainly used for power generation. Starting pay is about $10/ hr than what I'm getting at Generac currently. So does anybody here work there? They were featured on Modern Marvels a couple of years ago. Here the link to the vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oe8q6kSbHs

Those are the motors that I'll be building. Do you work for Waukesha Engine or what?

I took a tour when i was in school for tool and die. Place is cool, neat to see the large CNC machines. The ones where i work could almost fit in their machines. I'm right down the road on MacArthur by Nagel.

My best friend's bf works here, he says it's a nice place to work for. Generac is going down the hill big time since kern sold the place. I'm glad I'm long gone out of there :headbang

x2 for Generac goin downhill. We're slow, time drags on and I'm just not happy with them anymore. I need a career, not a job. As far as the getting let go on the 89th day, I've never heard of that, but we'll see, I'm a hard worker.

Congrats on the job find. I work for a company that makes their engine ignition harness. It's not like a car's harness. It's all encased in conduit and junction boxes with the actual wires going to each cylinder wrapped in stainless braid.

It has happened before, but that happened at a time that they were laying people off, as long as you work hard, show up, and don't cause any problems they will not let you go, you'd be surprised at some of the asshats that have made it there their probationary period.
