My friend Scott has a 2003 Z06 6-speed and a bunch of us are always out screwing around. His car did something to the tune of 460whp on the last dyno day we had and it is QUICK. Even a 600+whp Cobra can barely beat him. So a couple nights ago we were out screwing around and I decided to go all out with the Redline since this is the last weekend on the blower before the turbo goes on.

Here are the results. First race both in second gear at about 40mph and of course the drag radials on my car just roast off and he's ahead of me by like two cars already and I had to let off. The brand new SPEC stage 4 was slipping already in this race, but once it slipped that one time bad it didn't really let go again all night.

This is the GOOD race. We both were at about 50mph in third gear. I honked and admittedly took a slight jump on him and we just kept going to about 150 or so before we let off. Check the white lines in the road lol.

what mods are done on that ZO6. your going to need to spend some good money on heads/cam/FAST to get those numbers.

460 at the crank is a little more believable, thats 370-380 at the wheels. Still would take that saturn.

i totally agree.. there are a ton of guys with either ariel atoms, cobaltss/sc, and ion redlines who are ditching the supercharger and installing t3/t4 57 trim turbo's and on 16-18lbs of boost they are making 400+ hp... the bottom end of the lsj is a brick house... so im not surprised at all that it can handle a 150 shot..

You just dont hear about people making some good #s or ET's with these cars yet, is it because they are new or arent turning out that hot?

Hell id like to even hear about someone really going to work on one of them mazda speed 6's! with the turbo 2.3 and AWD.

tommy, you'd have fun with a cobalt SS and and a turbo. I'd like to see a SERIOUS one built...gutted, big fuel system, big injectors, big turbo and go for broke...there are a TON of bolt-on cars around but I haven't heard of anyone taking the plunge and building a monster yet to take a swing at a 35r'd evo or anything

he said he is shooting for 1000 hp but the block its self can handle 1500 hp.. so he may try to push it 2-300 hp more...

How is the aftermarket handling the direct injection on the turbo Eco's and Mazda's 2.3? Fuel pump, injectors? I know they run diesel like pressure through them. I haven't heard anything about it.

You sure about that... I was pretty sure most put down like 440-450whp out of the box. I thought I even remember reading something from motor trend where they dyno'd it right about there.

I did a quick search online and yea most of them put down just over 440 to the wheels. I even found that motortrend one:

Im sure forest will Chime in on this one. It was not a Z06. It was LS7 Crate engine in a 66 chevelle with a 6 speed trans and a custom rear end.

That is a pretty cool setup...

But to be fair you can't knock GM then because off the showroom floor a C6 Z06 DOES make considerably more than 400 at the wheels. My guess is something was a bit off on that car you dyno'd, can't hold that against the C6 Z06.

here goes as for that 66 chevelle. fuel injected crate ls7 with CAI, LT headers, and full stainless exhaust, son of tranzilla t56, winters aluminum 9inch, aluminum driveshaft, and full tube chassis car, abosultley STUNNING car. Owned and built by Randy Johnston from Kewaskum. He brought in the car and baselined 388 to the tire with an 07 pcm from a ZO6. Now for the flaming. I tuned 472.7 out of it up from 388 rwhp. So they definitly have some serious potential, just dissappointing in stock form. BTW he is competing in the CarCraft ultimate car challenge this weekend so wish him luck, I think he may actually take first with the setup he has. He has already been in a couple magazines with the car so far, and I think he is in this months issue of Popular hotrodding as well.

There you go, stock C6 Z06 putting down 461. There is no way they would be advertising these things at 505 hp if they weren't even close to that. Especially when the magazines are putting out the believable numbers.

intake, headers, exh, and tune 472 on a mustang dyno would be around 519.2 on a dynojet figuring the 10percent difference I have seen. and thats being generous at 10, its more like 12percent......
