I know it is not a big deal, but here goes. I was in Gander Mtn. by my house, and I was with a friend who was buying ammo. I was looking at the used guns when I saw a 91/30 on the rack. I began to look it over. I saw a lined out scope serial # on the bbl shank and pulled back the bolt and saw plugged holes for a PU mount. I went to the counter and told 'em i would take it. They tried to tell me it was the "display" model, I told them that I only wanted this one and I got it. But it is counter-bored, but take what I can get. I think the stock is real nice though, the bore is ok...it has been fired a lot...

Long story short:
Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 PU (Originally equipped with a fixed power 3.5x PU Telescope)
Produced:1943 at Izhvesk Arsenal in the Soviet Union
Rebuilt post-war, had PU scope removed, mount & base removed, mount holes plugged, turned-down bolt body replaced with standard 91/30 bolt body, and a standard 91/30 stock put on it, and liberally coated with that "iodine red" shellac.

I plan to put it back to as-manufactured condition. Lotsa work...

I found one locally at an undisclosed location (in case I change my mind and get it:goof) It also was counterbored, so I was up in the air on it. Nice find:thumbsup
