But then...along comes a better idiot...

Here's a little lesson in how not to do things which seems to totally escape some people. I'd love to see how the trip ended up but I feel confident he ended up in a ravine somewhere wondering why bad things seems to always happen to him. He must rank in the top 3% of the "mentally-challenged" scale. File this under 'hold my beer and watch this'.

He's hooked up and ready to fly!! It's amazing how the extra weight really smoothed out the ride in the truck. He did have to air up the rear tires a bit (around 160 psi)

He added some heavy-duty chain for extra support on the tailgate (note that he used the "Heavy-Duty 'S' hooks to attach the chain) He also paid-up for some BIG 5/16 sheetmetal screws to attach the frame to the tailgate. Yeah, he knows it's overkill, but he didn't want the possibility of having an accident.

Much of his time was spent on his front porch whittling down that MASSIVE 4x4 board to fit precisely into the ball mount receiver. Also note that he used a 14" piece of 1x4 to help distribute the load more evenly--"YOU CAN"T BE TOO SAFE, YOU KNOW!!". " It cost a little more, but you just can't be too safe when pulling a trailer of this magnitude !!".

hard to tell from the pic, but how does he intend on turning.

This is more comical than the guy taking out the bank with RV

no kidding.

160psi? Really? I understood most light duty/passenger car tires burst at around 100psi. You'd also think that the ride would suck ass as there is no suspension travel to absorb bumps. You'd also think the tailgate would simply snap off (edit: Oh, didn't see the well engineered 4x4 block of wood supporting the tailgate...but what happens when he hits the brakes? Accelerates?). With any luck, that's one of the old 120hp 2.8 v6's...probably flies up dem mountain passes.

This has to be a joke...on no level does this work...

I bought a 3/4 ton pickup for nothing I guess. Had I known I could pull the travel trailer with an S10 Blazer, I could have saved a shitload of money. :goof

as for turning he probably measured from the tailgate to the top and from the hitch to the bottom of the overhang on the trailer...just didn't figure it would be so heavy that the lean would lower the front of the trailer
