Cancel that, they just fixed the price. Its now a 1400 dollar machine instead of a 300 dollar machine. I ordered one, chances are it will be canceled.

Let us know what happens, sometimes they will honor the price if they want to be nice about it.....:banana1:

I found this deal on slickdeals.net, so there were a few hundred of these ordered. It would be great if they honored it, but I won't be getting my hopes up :)

I checked my dell.com account and it says No Recent Orders, so deal was bombed with no cancellation notice. NICE

Consider yourself lucky, the XPS' (like most Dell PCs) are garbage. A paralyzed friend of mine has one and it has been no end of trouble. Part of the reason is they pack 10 pounds of shit into a 5 pound case and everything overheats. Since he bought it two years ago one of the hard drives has failed (it came from the factory in a RAID array so basically he lost everything on the drive... fortunately he had backups), also one of the memory channels has failed (so two sticks of RAM had to be replaced). The memory is Samsung who doesn't offer a lifetime warranty to the consumer like most manufacturers do, so you're stuck with whatever warranty Dell gives you (and all of this stuff is over a year old, so it's out of warranty). It took me a week to recover the "recovery partition" from the crashed array and rebuild it onto the remaining working drive and get the CTRL-F11 recovery partition functionality to work again.

The only thing Dell has made recently that has been decent were their Axim PDAs (which they aren't making anymore of course). I don't know who was building them for Dell, but they were some of the nicest, most reliable PDAs out there.

I have a dell pc, and love it. no problems here.

(dimension c521)

Sucks they caught it and canceled the order, I had the same thing with a Aeromotive FPR I ordered for my Z. A website had it for $68 shipped, so I ordered 2. They wrote me saying that they would ship it for free, but the price was more like $175, each.

Well, *maybe* the new XPS's are better... but I'd put one of my PCs up against a Dell (or any other manufacturer) any day.
