I am trying to help my little bro find his first car. hes starting college in the fall and paying his own way so operating costs are a real issue.
I almost fell out of my chair looking at the prices some of these cars are going for. like this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___1994-chevy-geo-metro-gas-saver-saves-gas-50-mpg-hybrid_W0QQitemZ320272823229QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20Tru cksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320272823229&_trksid=p3756.m14.l1308

I bought my first little better for $300 i guess those days are gone now.
if anyone knows someone selling a decent economy car let me know

You should see how many unsolicited offers I've received on the insight lately. I'm waiting for someone to offer up 15G.

they won't wheel and deal on Civics right now either. They are selling for sticker price at some dealerships. Youch.

The car market is insane right now. No one is buying and everyone is selling too high. Just to give you an idea, a used 2007 ford focus is going at the auction for $2000 more than it was 3 months ago, and now, you cant get them priced low enough. You can buy a new 08 for only 300-500 more than most used 07's out there! It's nuts!!!

Besides, look at it this way, a half way decent Riding Lawnmower is anywhere from 1500-3000 for a nice John Deere, so dont expect to get much of a car for anything less than that!

my cousin just sold his diesel rabbit truck that he bought for 400 bucks in seattle for 6gs. the bed was rusted through and the whole thing sucked, but i guess biodiesel is huge out there and most import diesels are going for at least 6gs

Same thing with bikes, ones that were $200 a couple years ago are $1200 or more.

Now I wish I'd have held on to my little 84 Charger, I would have gotten more than the 700 I sold it for seven years ago. My boss has a rusty S-10 Blazer (I think that's the model name) for 900 bucks.

:rolf i drive a rusty s-10 blazer and after the last winter we had it lost about 50 pounds

and i just sold a hyundai excel about 2 years ago for $700 that had half the miles and one more cylinder then that Geo probably could have got 5k for it now :nutkick

I saw a nice mid-90s civic for 2600 somewhere on 32 in Kenosha.
