unless im wrong, I dont believe you can powdercoat something to look like black chrome. usually its a plating process, just like how you chrome a part. you cant powdercoat a part to look like chrome..........

its the same powder, same process so it should hold up the same. the best turnout of a translucent is over chrome. I have seen it on un polished billet and it turns out to look like anodize. it seems to make powder coating look its blown glass. heres a blasted quad frame sprayed translucent red

X3 hytech is awsome. Mike Millen is the man to talk to. had my frame done for my bike and also have a bunch of stuff for my truck heading there in a couple weeks (before the AUG show:))

I wouldnt think the translucent powdercoating would stick to paint, I figured it would have to be sandblasted...... learn somethin new every day

Yes you can, I've done it. It is not going to be an exact match to REAL black chrome but depending on the company you get your powder from it can look VERY close. Here's a pic of a EGR cover I powder coated black chrome (I did not like this powder).

Powder coat (Powder paint!!) IS paint. It will stick to anything paint will stick to. But just like paint you need to prep your parts and the powder needs to have something to "grab" onto. The problem is not whether the powder will stick to paint but whether the paint can withstand the 400^ @ 10-20min. curing process. Most paint not...
