lol fastest diesel truck?? banks? LMAO they can blow me.. that diesel dragster in the pic i posted just went 200mph in the 1/4. heres a good article for ya about a 2006 cummins that was built and raced the 90mi silver state classic in vegas. entered the 125mph avg class but avg 133mph:rolf also did 167mph in 1 mile, 4wd, full interior with a slow launch cuz it would lose traction at 85mph:eek: thinks he could do the 160mph avg class if they would allow him too :stare its an awsome article just read it

That is a dragster buddy..... Not a pickup.... BIG difference.

First Diesel Pickup in the 7's......

But as far as your dragsters go, dont hold your breath on that one being the quickest for long...

It IS the fastest diesel pickup in the world....... And DOES NOT smoke.

I hate how people bad mouth this company because they dont offer a "high power" tuner. THe company is about reliability and power, not just power. From all the research ive done on this there is NO other company that does the extensive R&D that these guys do. Ive never heard ONE ***** about there products other then "it doesnt add enough power"

Smoke = Stupid

The sidewinder is proof.....

Oh and they also own the fastest diesel pickup to ever be ran at bonneville @ over 217mph.

banks equipment is HORRIBLE for freezing up, alot of white smoke on power levels and throws check engine lights often. i witnessed it on a 2004 PSD with the banks PDA, he got rid of it and got a SCT. the sidewinder is cool, banks just sucks.

That is the first complaint ive ever heard about the banks products throwing CEL's.

Me personally, I dont want alot of power, the truck is good the way it is. I will be adding the banks ottomind 6 towing/economy tuner to my truck though from two reasons.

1. It adds 100rwhp, It increases milage, its shift on the fly, and it has built in safteys.
2. It is undetectable by the dealerships as its a piggyback vs a programmer. I need somthing that wont leave tracks in the ECM.

hmm maybe for a new dmax?? i know banks came out with the 6gun for the LBZ it was POS!! most cummins n psd guys stay away. i can see for "normal" condition use people using banks but most get the bug after 65hp chip n need more. As for it not being tracable i doubt that all boxes leave a foot print somewhere. the last thing i read that was untracable a mechanic came on the cummins forum to prove everyone wrong. he found something miss leading in the data on the ecm in the truck. it was like engine idle percent or something like that. 53k miles and the engine idle was 99% which is basically impossible. if its truely untracable thats awesome

Can someone enlighten me, isnt black smoke unburnt fuel? and isnt unburnt fuel mean that you are not making power out of the unburnt fuel?

yes, normally lack of air, poor atomization. mixing diesel/air is a extremely short imperfect process. what happens is after the injection timing has been played with and injection fuel flow ie injectors it will produce more fuel and ALOT of black smoke or unburnt fuel. that normally would produce HIGH EGTs with out a larger turbo. most street drivin trucks should be able to "clean" up the smoke. On a race truck/pull truck there is alot more your dealing with like fuel injection over injection timing. it throws the short process off even more causing the black smoke due to forcing more air then the truck can burn fuel, forcing the unburnt out the exhaust. you can run a cleaner diesel like bio and add spray like banks does to get rid of the smoke totally. take lukes truck for example. it rolls smoke w/o spray, then runs a 12sec clean pass w/only smoke on spool up. spray atomizes the mixture.

/\/\ so on a pulling truck, wouldnt it make more sense to optimize the air flow going into the motor with larger turbos or more bost or whatever it takes, so that way more fuel is burnt in the combustion chamber thus creating more power? when a gasser goes down the track and you can visiable tell its rich, you either lean it out, or add more air if your able, thus making more power????

The banks kits do not leave any traces as they alter the signal after it leaves the ECM, hence a piggyback system. THE ONLY trace it would leave is in the TCM possibly leaving some wacky transmission readings. But with only 100rwhp increase, its nothing to worry about.
