The car's on it's way to version 3.0 now. The suspension just got buttoned up by BIG BEAR in Oconomowoc tonight and put some miles on it after it bieng down the last few weeks. Turtle- THANKS for the hand in setting it up & taking part in its work! JP- You too- even though we lost the battle against the 'old' k-member. goof :headbang:headbang:headbang:headbang The mechanic that worked on the car kept on it & dialing it in until HE was good with it.
The new and very much improved k-member is in (did it solo & was a PITA) as well as new upper/lower ball joints & tie rod ends with a noice alignment:) . Other stuff was tweaked as well and now rides like its on rails :banana:banana:banana

Great to hear your back in action john. When the pretty new k-member pics coming?

Once the part actually came in, it went pretty quick I thought- especially for doing it alone.
The k-member arrived at my work mon and had the old one pulled that night in about 3 hours. I came up with a jig with the help of Dennis (Beast) & some cargo straps to hold the motor & tranny up with no cherry picker needed. Yep, the motor/trans were left in and 'floating' in air.

I had the new one mostly installed by Tues night and then buttoned every thing else up and had it flatbedded out to Big Bear on Wed night. Yesterday (thurs) it spent the day there getting the rest of its overhaul & alignment.
And of course just as I pulled it out of thier lot for the drive home all hell broke loose with that friggen storm w/ sideways rain :fire But the car was good in it & no probs :headbang

Go figure, my digi camera gave up it's ghost and cant focus anymore so there were next to no pics of the project.
Heres the few that actually somewhat turned out....

The dark area is the 'box' region that we tried rewelding last month...

On-car pic for a better view before welding it. As said before, just about every weld in this area was cracked. It was bent far enough out of shape that the passenger side bushing/mount on it no longer lined up with the pass side motormount brackets :wooo.

The new design does away with the 'box' that all the posts come to.

They look similar, but the new has several 'ears' on it for added strength & overall is muuuch beefier.
