turbozilla breathes!

And brings the latest in "show car technology"

Just a little iron block 364 (yep, stock crank, just like snoops car!) with better factory stock heads and some stronger parts inside. Fixed alot of little issues and restored the engine bay by gutting it and painting it. Cooling system works like a mother ****er so far too.

Only gripe is i had to forego the a/c yet again due to more space and fitment requirements.

Gotta good clutch in it now too... Just need to get some exhaust work done then its ready to drive.

Never knew it left. I was half expecting heads on it that weren't cathedral port.

For sure those new valve covers are the change I like the most visually, but stuff just looks cleaner now.

i thought the stock block was good for 1000+ hp
why hang more weight on the front of a car that already doesnt hook?

It was always my intention to build a good motor for it at somepoint. Luckily all the funds i needed pulled together to make it happen. I mainly wanted to freshen up the apperance and put a mill thats not over the top with big inches but just strength. So when i want to wack it with 20+ psi to go for 1,000 RWHP this year i can and not have any worries.

Stock block can handle 1,000hp but it would be hard pressed to make that with 346" though.

These stock cranks have over 1,000 hp already in FI drag cars. Its a little easier on parts than the bottle. and i cant go over 346" with a stock block unless it gets sleeved.

Besides ill have it dialed back to about the power level it had last year on the street. Im not sure i have enough injector to crest the 20 psi mark anyway.

Would it have been better for Nic to just ask about what in the suspension has changed? I mean his question is valid, Tom had major problems with the HP he had last year, why throw more HP at the problem, that's definatly not going to make it go away:rolf

What rear end do you have in it, as I am sure it's not the 10 bolt:rolf Dana 60, 12 bolt, or did you really want the car to be ultra reliable and spring for a Ford 9";)

BAD LS1
07-05-2008, 11:13 PM
The thread was merely to just state the progress as people have been asking where the car is. Not an avenue to ask me why i didnt do this or do that? Let me worry about stuff like traction issues and what crank is in it etc... If you want to see it done different, ill gladly start accepting cash donation to make the suggested modfications.

Prince Valiant
07-05-2008, 11:18 PM
It's bizarre...if I'm having traction issues, yet STILL want more power, I'm going to get the more power. Why spend the time solving traction issues for a 700hp car when THOSE solutions will be obsolete when you go to your 1000hp car? Get the 1000hp, then worry about the rest later.

And even if one is having trouble with traction...that doesn't mean they won't still be able to apprciate the new power...

Poncho
07-06-2008, 01:26 AM
With great power comes great responsibility. Somehow I think Tom having 1000hp and Nic having 1000hp would have two very different outcomes.

would never ever want 1000 hp. What good comes out of that? Yea its cool if you dont want to drive on the street or have anyone race you. To me that wouldnt be fun it would just take way to much $$$. Not saying its not impressive cause it is. id rather have a fun streetable car.:thumbsup

So he takes his same setup backs it down 5psi, and now has a 650hp fun streetable car, that just happens to have the ability to make 1000hp when he wants to.

X2 that is exactly what you do and you can have the best of both worlds. If you have a nice electronic boost controller you can change it on the fly all you want as long as the right fuel is in it. I keep mine at 7psi for the street and can go up to 24psi for the track. Makes it easy and is more than streetable on low boost with drag radials.

Bad LS1, nice set up :thumbsup

Agreed, a turbo'd car really seems the be the best of both worlds.

I hate it when I go to show off my hard work and people go on and on about something else. You really know your stuff and your car as well as many other cars in the area that you have built and tuned.

Hamrhead, I've never seen any pictures of video's of your car after Speed finished the install. Do you have any?

Gonna take it for exhaust this week.
