why do you want texture in the garage? all the dust and dirt will just cling to it and within a year or 2 it will look like crap... just my .02
but my dad and i just got done drywall/mud/paint in his garage last tuesday and all we did was put 2 coats of Kilz sealer on it and it looks great...

ah.... if you plan on painting it yourself when you buy the paint some places will add it in then you just paint llike normal.. that is if it is the sand type texture... if its the big pellets or something else then idk..

Sherwin-Williams sells a product called SHER-TEX roller texture.
It comes pre mixed by the gallon for about $15 I think.

Just used it recently, and it turns out really nice when applied with
a roller. You can topcoat right over it.

I use texture paint from Hallman Lyndsay. It is a texture primer and works really well on higing imperfections and is a decent looking texture. I spray iot on with an air hopper and back roll it for even coverage. I think a 5 gallon bucket is only $30-$40.

fly5150 has it right. I've done drywall for 15 years and halman lyndsay roll on sand texture is the best!!!!
