Looking at buying a new lawn mower since I am now a home owner. Wanted to buy one on Craiglist, but can't find a decent one (that isn't already purchased by the time I call:rolf) and now my grass is LONGGGGGGGG. So, I will be purchasing a mower new, today. Looking at some suggestions like where to buy, what to buy, what to stay away from, ect, ect. Under $300 would be nice:thumbsup

On another note you could use the exercise, like me, so just get a regular one.. Lazy ace..

Just look for something with a decent motor. Briggs or Honda. The mower should be decent then.

Toro Personal Pace FTW. My dad has one and its awesome. I have a Craftsman 6.5hp self-propelled that works nice too though.

Go to Home Depot and get a toro...easy starting, easy changing from bagger/mulch/side discharge, good power/torque and easy maintenance.

there is a mower shop down the block from my house on forrest home ave. Its called shewistzer's or some crap like that. I went there and bought a nice mower for like 30 bucks. It was used but they fix them up and i've never had a problem with it to this day.

FYI, anything you look at thats new with a Briggs on it will be labled in torque, not horsepower anymore....

This is the one I bought about a month ago, works real nice. I especially like the high rear wheels.

The only mowers I buy now are Honda. Smooth, quiet and great cut. I just bought a new Honda HRX this spring. My dad still has his Honda Harmony PX I sold him 10 years ago. It still runs and looks like new.

Im not sure if you bought one yet but what is your lawn like? Full of trees or obstacles? Hilly? Flat? You can find a pretty decent one with some nice extras for your price. Sears has sales like every week on their stuff. You can get one fairly cheap during their Craftsman Club sales but I think you may have just missed it.

21" HRR 4-in-1 Smart Drive™ Self-Propelled Variable Speed Mower with RotoStop® BBC

You can let go of the thing and the engine won't shut off, the blade just stops. Love it. :thumbsup

Well since you are such an eager little beaver you can just carry the lumber from Menards to your basement, you shouldn't need my truck:rolf
