I don't think I could get the time to do it...and I get 6 weeks off, lol. I drove basically alongside it driving from Milwaukee, picked it up in springfield IL, and dropped off at flagstaff in which I headed down to phoenix. Looked interesting from New Mexico to Flagstaff, and from springfield to OK...but man, OK through TX looked pretty stark, lol.

I drove a small section of it when I bought my Supra and was driving it back from Texas. I've heard most of the "nostalgic stuff" is in the far West part of the country.

I want to see it some day, it really is a piece of history in it's own way.

I've driven parts of it in New Mexico and Arizona. It is a decent ride. If you want a real fun adventure, drive through the desert.

My uncle did the whole trip in April with his '67 Vette. Took him 14 days and he went with 7 other C2 Vette's.

I have driven through Vegas and further to LA with the trip back several times. Why you ask?

Ive driven on Route 66 around the Rancho Cucamonga area, thats pretty much my limit on Rt 66. Driving it through its entirety is definately something I would like to do as well.

i love vegas and want to make the drive out there at least once in my life. I love driving to Disney in florida (about 1100 mi from mke) how far is vegas, over 2,000 isn't it?
how bad is the drive?
For example, I can almost make it all the way to florida without stopping to rest. Good and gas stops sure, but I remember last time I made the drive I got just south of atlanta before I had to stop for some rest. (3 am in the rain in the mountains and I couldn't see shit = not worth the risk)

how long would it take to drive to vegas?

From Milwaukee to Vegas, its roughly 1750 miles. The drive from here to just before Denver/Rocky Mountains sucks unless you like seeing flat land for miles. This is also where you will get your best MPG. From Denver on west, you have hills, mountains (duh), and nice scenery. Last year around this time I still saw snow up there. I liked driving through Utah the most though. I dig the desert and canyon scenery with twists and turns up mountains like you wouldnt believe. I wish I had a nice and fun car to drive at the time.

It took me 2 days. Leaving here at 8AM calling it a night at 1AM on day 1. Day 2 from 8AM and at about 8PM, I was in Vegas. These times are local times, not CST.

That was the last time I drove there, the prior times I dont recall exactly but they all were pretty much the same times.

In the 70s, I hitch hiked the whole route 66 highway. From Chicago to LA. Already then they were starting to bypass it with the interstates. I did drive some of it when I finally moved to California, but most of it was interstate. I did it non-stop in 58 hours in a 64 Buick Le Sabre.

Well, I should hear back about my motorcycle tomorrow.

I have already planned to go to New York City this summer and mabey Lake Tahoe with a stop in Vail. Before I picked up this part-time job I have, I planned on taking 66 for a decent chunk of my westward voyage. Luckily, I only work Friday-Sunday, which means if I take a weekend off, I have Monday through the Friday of the following week!

Yep...with a detour down to phoenix, back up through sedona, grand canyon, then over to vegas via the hoover dam. Coolest and longest road-trip I've ever did...

14 days starting in Chicago and ending in Santa Monica. The car was shipped out here since he lives in CA so he just left from our house.
