as you may know dodge/cummins came out in 98.5-02 with the elctronic controlled injection pump, the bosch vp-44. this pump is known as a problem child and normally not lasting longer then 100k mi. these things are a PITA, i know first hand. . no vp truck has ever been over 1000hp in any shape way or form. just last year a company came out of the wood work with a new modified vp that flows a lot more fuel, which it did. since then people have been trying different things with these "monster" pumps. last weekend Adam Winslett layed down a new vp record using a single edge drag no stacked boxes, stock cam, stock pistons, stock rods, single 66mm turbo, and 2 stages a spray. it put down 1060hp and 982hp on a single stage. it went down the track at 12.18 @ 120 only fuel no spray, and it never made a full pass as it spit the intercooler boot at 78psi every pass. it was dynoed/raced at the norcal diesel rally where he drove the truck there and back 400mi and averaged 17 mpg. at 75mph.

dyno run first pull one stage. 2nd pull 2 stages

drag vide. *note* it didnt go 10.18 like the anouncer said there was some confusion. i like the 1/8mi burnout

Well alright then..... Sounds like that engine is on some borrowed time.

maybe a duramax:goof 120psi before a cummins block spits.

Stock rods and pistons is what I was referring to....

Is that turbo cavitation or does he have a blowoff in it? sounds violent when he chops it

Cool idea i guess, but i surely wouldnt spend that kinda money.

Stock rods and pistons is what I was referring to....

pistons dont need to be touched unless u need to fly cut the pistons for the cam lift and or lower compression. u never have to change the rods unless of coarse u want a lighter balanced set for rpms or because u have money? the fastest diesel in the world the, 7sec dragster is a stock lower 2001 24v with a modified mechanical bosch 7100 p-pump. runs over 120psi boost pressure and the lower end has never been touched. the block has been filled to prevent it from blowing apart. the stock rotating assembly of a cummins can with hold 160psi of boost pressure.

ok one power adder, give me the same size turbo on a stroked SB and you will see some HP #s :D

ur sbf would use a bigger turbo to make 1000 hp, like 80+ mm. its a 66mm compressor 71mm wheel and 14cm housing. most guys us a borg warner s475 for a traget 1000hp on a 351w. thats a HUGE single even for a diesel. the bottom turbo on most common twin applications is a s400 over a 62/71. you can bump to a s480 but driveability becomes an issue. my goal is a 62/71 over a s480. that would be fun.

As a diesel mechanic and Cummins fan I apreciate the 1000hp on
that stupid design pump. Those are outstanding numbers.

But the cheap mechanic side of me says "wow thats almost as fast
as my 12.0 at 120mph Omni on street tires and 87 oct pump gas" :)
