I'm looking to put a home theatre projector in our basement. It's just going to be for movies. Anybody know of any decent ones? I'm not looking to go buck wild and spend a small fortune either.

TIA

I had a Infocus projector for my theatre and it worked great. I don't remember the model number (IN73?) but I bought it as a "refurbished" unit and had absolutely no problems at all.

Make sure you buy a screen, the material and it's reflective qualities are what bring the picture to life vs having it on a white wall or whatever other options.

I think mine was 2000 lumens which was fine, even during the day it was bright enough with the window that was right by the screen.

Yeah....we'll be getting a screen. It's usually pretty dark in the rec room/bar area down there too....so I'm not too worried about that.

Yea it really just depends on what you are looking to spend. You can get some decent mid-range 720p projectors for I believe around $1500 range. However if you are looking for a mid range 1080p you will need to shell out at least twice that.

Then you need to make sure you have a nice screen, and all the misc stuff (cabling, frame, etc. etc.)

I take it you have a room downstairs with little to no windows/light?

If you are looking for reviews on specific models I would start with the big players like cnet.com, projectorreviews.com, projectorcentral.com .. Then if you want more detailed info there is usually a bunch of good stuff on the AV forums, and home theature forums (just google for them).

GL with it all!
