U-Joints are covered right? Since i paid for the transfer of the warranty i figured id get them done. When i was on the phone the guy said absolutely they are covered but ball joints arent.

Now i went and dropped the truck off, and the one guy who checked me in said "are u joints even covered under warranty?"

He said he would call me, havent gotten a call yet so im a little worried?

Every website i look on, it clearly states U joints are a powertrain part so they better do it. And im happy because an older guy will be working on my truck and not some out of highschool rookie

How many miles on the truck?

Just did the rear u-joints on my '98 2500 with the help of UnderPSI.
I think we destroyed his vise. Them bastards were in there good.

I'm trying to locate a vibration I get at hwy speeds under load. Its driving me nuts. Spending a ton of money on parts and all my free time.

I can't recall every knowing anyone whose U-joints failed before the warranty was up. my guess would be that it IS covered though since it's such a rare fail item.

I'm trying to locate a vibration I get at hwy speeds under load. Its driving me nuts. Spending a ton of money on parts and all my free time. Could also be ring/pinion...what about the front U-joint? Did you check the trans/transfer case mount?

That's got to be annoying..

under load, do you mean under engine load (i.e. accelerating, passing....etc) or while the vehicle is loaded with weight? If its the latter, I would guess tires? See if you can find someone with the same bolt pattern wheels and swap em out and run it down the freeway and see if you can duplicate the problem. That would at least rule out that possibility and cost you just a little bit of time.

dodge??
Sorry,,, no a Chevy Silverado ext cab 8600 GVW

Load as in.... When I have more than me alone in the truck and pulling hard. So both weight and acceleration. I'm ordering tires anyway. The tires are all burned out real bad on the outside. So I've been working on the balljoints, tierods, and bushings since I'm in there gettin dirty. Balljoints are no fun on this truck.

120k on the truck with plowing miles, I just call it maintenance and bite the bullet.

from the standpoint of a shop, let them call you. the last thing you want to do is annoy the guy who could let a questionable warranty go through.

yea possibly, check your tires also. my nieghbor who owns a asphalt company was the first to tell me about the vriation he noticed in his 01 3500, and i didnt believe him till we bought our fifth wheel and pulled that with our 02 2500 dmax. i also have a 02 3500 and 07 2500 dmax company trucks that does the same thing with the skid loader behind them. is it a real tight vibration? seems to speed up in as rpms climb till it shifts?

Ron can i be worried yet? Im verrrrryyyy impatient as you can see, which i've been working on for awhile now with good progress.

But the thought of the older gentleman leaving and a couple young punks going ninja style on my truck parts is really bothering me?!?!?!

Well, they just called and unfortunately for me its news i didnt want to hear.

The U-joint is covered under warranty but my worst fear came true :(

The hub assembly itself isnt coming off which is a common thing if you let them last too long without pulling them apart. So i stoped down at the dealership to check it out, and there are two guys going at that damn hub trying to break it loose! With no luck still, so i talked to the guys a little bit and the one is going to stay later, keep spraying it down and trying it. He is going to try once more tonight, then soak it real good and then again in the morning....if not they are going to torch it and i need to pay for a new hub and parts $550 :( And that's not covered under warranty.

So i told the kid, lunch and dinner of his choice is on me if he can get that damn thing off. He told me, its his own personal goal to get it off without the torch but we'll see.

If he does $100 gas card is his!!!

funny you mention that....

I just fvcked the front passenger "Axle Bearing and Hub Assembly" while trying to swap my rotors. The hub was fused to the steering knuckle. Instead of the hub coming free, the bearings started to part from the hub. $200 bucks x 2, because I'm not just going to replace 1 side. I also got some new shocks... my whole damn front end is new now.

It gets progressively more violent if I stay on it. Sometimes backing off the gas and getting back on lessens it. Feels like its under the front passengers feet. Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

No luck, the stupid bish on the phone said EVENTHOUGH, they have never been touched before, and its connected to the axle (which is covered under powertrain) she said they will not cover it.

I argued that its an orginal part failure so why the h3ll should i be stuck with the bill?

And then i got the call from the stealership saying the guy tried again this morning and it wont even budge, so new one has to go on. Just F-ing great, i start the day off with a $650 debt :(
