I reminded everyone on 2-12-2008 in a different thread, people actually took my advice and there were some Nasty ones out there :rolf

Air Conditioning season will be in FULL EFFECT starting this weekend. Your Central Air Generally uses 100 to 300 more CFM then winter time. Air Flow is very important !!!

This means your furnace filter has to be clean/new !!!!!

Yea you Get off your Ass and walk down stairs you might be surprised :chair:

Any question just ask :thumbsup

Story from yesterdays :

Customer points to A/C outside and say there she is, well Sir I do see that but I would like to head up into your attic where the Air Handler is.

Customer - " I don't have one "
Me - " yes sir you do "
Customer - " No really I don't "

Me " I'm scared to look at your filter " <--- I really said that to him :rolf

Turns out the filter was 100% blocked :rolf:rolf:rolf:rolf

Customer was in AWE :eek::eek::eek::eek:

What type of filters do you recommend?

Do not get the Blue Fiber glass ones, those should be illegal to sell !!!
Do not get the Best filter, there way to restrictive to begin with

Go to ACE hardware and get there ace brand, I feel that the construction and quality of these filters are top notch. Get the mid priced ones, stanman how wide is your filter ?

I'm out of my element here. :durr That type of filter is what I've been buying at the local Walfart. Why is it that they're bad? And how about the filters that are sold at True Value? (Asking because I live in Waterford and True Value is much more convenient.)

I haven't been to the house since I closed, lol. I will be up there this weekend though and will check. I know where the furnace filter is, where should I be looking for the A/C filter?

Well the reason I think they should be illegal is that they don't work, they give false hope to the consumer because there a filter and people assume they work.

I have seen blue filters that are 2 years old and look like there new, the fibers are so large they let all the dust right past it. Most of the time it will be caked up inside the blower wheel and A-coil causing poor air flow during the heating season and Cooling season.

Over the years you may not notice it but trust me its happening.

Hitman how long have you been using these filters ? if its more then a year I would recommend having your units looked at by me. 7 out of 10 homes that USED the blue filters are all plugged up and running like crap. I then tear apart the system and put it back to normal, customers usually tell me in a phone call later that week " My Drapes are going crazy in my front room " AKA Air Flow baby, its BACK !!!! :rolf

I'm a dork about my job and enjoy it to much, so when I see a piss poor product such as those blue filters it ticks me off because they do so much harm its sad.

I have worked on some units that needed $800 + because of these filters, customer thinks there working but 5 years go by and there system is plugged with dust. Causing high amps and shorting out a board and Icing up a A/C system that ends up dripping water over the Blower wheel.

You would not Believe how Important a clean and decent Filter is, easiest thing to do but everyone falls short of doing it :wooo

The Furnace Filter is the same as the A/C filter, you should have one and only one :thumbsup

I did offer in your thread about your home to stop out and look at the system before you purchased it, but it looks like you did buy it Congrats :thumbsup

Best thing to do in your case start from Square 1 get your units tuned up by me so you know what your working with, or you could wait to turn that Cool button on and here a large Ka-Boom :thumbsup

trust me its worth it

i have two thin metal filters and two big electronic filters and i don't think they work but i think the last time some one came out here and looked they replaced it with one giant regular filter is that the best way to replace it cuz i don't think the electronic filter was working very good any more

Dont forget to clean out you condensing unit (the thing outside). Thats just as important. A blown capacitor is easily avoidable. Rember to spray it from the INSIDE OUT with your hose.

What you have would be called a HoneyWell EAC :chair: those are junk
That product was " State of the art " back in the 80's and early early 90's

The power heads usually crap out so 110v is not being sent through the elements, even if they did work those are JUNK !!!

When I see them I always disable the 110 volts coming from the board so there is no risk of starting your new filter on fire, so yes llilws6 its good that it was changed. But did the Tech that worked on the unit disable the 110 :wow

Here is the bad thing, since the previous EAC was not working for xx amount of years all that dust and crap has been jammed into the blower wheel or in the underside of your A-coil. Again like I mentioned before have me out there ill show you the inside of your furnace.

A/C tune ups have nothing to do with removing sheet metal pannels to clean your a-coils or removing blower wheels and such. Thats all at a extra charge because $75 for a tune up is a deal compared to the morons that are out there :rolf

The man is right :thumbsup

I have my own coil Gun cleaner that has a ratio to mix with the water coming from the garden hose, the stuff I use ROCKS end of story :headbang

Every A/C tune up gets this !!!

being a lawn car specialist i always trim around the outside condensing units and keep them free of weeds and tall grass. you wont belive how many people i see that have the condenser buried in the weeds and tall grass by there house.:chair:
