what year does the car have to be to not have seatbelts? is it like 1960 or something. not sure.

basically it's whenever they started to use them, but it varies. For example in '56 Ford started to offer them, but they weren't standard or anything. In 1968 they were finally required on everything. IN '64 the big 3 all had them installed in everything. However, the way it was interpreted is that if your car had them in it, you better be using them. I never would feel 100% comfortable in my dad's '55 with it not having seatbelts.

Dan is right...a lot of cars started to include them in the early-mid sixties, but the interiors had clips above the doors to hold them up and out of the way, LOL. On the fullsize chevys, they were an option even in 64. Even if say you bought a 61 Impala without them, you could always add lap belts for saftey...IE like my car

I need to add rears to my 64, came with front but not rears. I don't want the kid playing superman if it ever leaves the garage:rolf
