amazon.com has them on sale for $160 w/free shipping. I kinda want to know what the cobra will do in the 1/4 but don't want to get kicked out after one pass at the track. Anybody use one of these?

Its got a 4 point hoop but thats it. With my rr slicks it should be a low 11 car and I don't have a rulebook to know what's required.

I heard what the G-tech says, you should add a little bit to the time it gave you.

That is probably a little more accurate than those G-Techs, given that you are not drunk and using a stopwatch. :goof

go on RSD, they are more hush hush on what goes down the track, then you got no BS, plus if you are bench racing other BCM members like many like to do, then you can bust out a timeslip instead of a "My gspot said i do the 1/4 in 12.5"

IIRC a NHRA certified roll BAR is good until I think 10.00. But I don't remember if its a 4-point or not... Just google it.

Otherwise IMO, I wouldn't buy the G-tech if you are looking for any kind of a real answer. IMO put the $160 towards getting a certified bar.

just go there and run it. at least you have SOMETHING for a bar in the car. they are a bit more laxed about that.

I pulled the trigger on the "g-spot". At least I'll have an idea of what it runs before I go down to the grove. It sounds like I won't be able to talk sh1t until I have a slip. I was just wondering if anybody had used one thats all.

G-tech aren't bad. They'll do a pretty decent job of giving you a time. It's your speed that will be off cause it's measured differently.

I bought one when they first came out and used it maybe twice. The problem is finding a nice flat, straight road to use it on that doesn't have any traffic.

G-tech are tunning tools at best...only one way to know what you run in the quarter....

I've seen cars in the 10 second range make several passes w/o hassles or cages...and as they've said, RSD events are typically pretty relaxed when it comes to the rules.

Weird Fact: VAG COM cars (vw family) actually have a g-tech type of thing built in. Just need to connect a display (ie: laptop).

i got a gtech and love it, its pretty accurate and doesn't cost you a ton or loot driving to and from the track anytime you add a mod. Plus if you social network that are motorheads it will bring a ton of enjoyment. think of it this way, whynot

The Pontiac Grand Prix GXPs also have an accelerometer built-in, but it only displays acceleration and lateral Gs, doesn't give you any times.

The new Challenger SRT8 has a built accelerometer/Gtech that gives you 1/8th, 1/4 and 0-60 times, G force, braking distance and timer.

Might as well, they're probably building all of that stuff into the ECU now for black-box-style crash analysis.

Should have gotten a DashHawk. Costs a fair bit of money more but it's a ton more useful. Can even use it for those pesky GM people that need to do a crank relearn.
