Kickdown cable could be incorrectly set causing the transmission to slip which in turn will toast the tranny all together. Happened to me, get that check out if it hasn't done too much damage already. 700r4's are not the easiest tranny's to work on but are all over junk yards and can be swapped pretty easily. Id get a junkyard one for cheap make sure it works and put a shift kit in it and call it a day.

fluid color?smell?

like stated b4 get it adjusted theres prolly a write up on how to adjust it just google it.I had a weird problem with my 700r4 it would shift till 5500rpm so i thought the tranny was taking a shit.So i beat the living shit out of the car and then one day it started working like normal weird.

Ok. Now you know your tranny is toast. Time to put a TH350 into it and done by a professional shop that won't rip you off on a cable and install.

That tranny cable has gotta be adjusted correctly, that is a simple thing a shop will do to fvck a guy over and make them come back for a tranny build.

Time for a th350, hell if you can find a th400 cheap and have the money to rebuild it you got a bulletproof tranny.

Or like I said before 700r4's are cheap and easy to swap just no easy to work on.

I have a known good 700r4 i'd be willing to sell that I just pulled if interested. From a 91, supposidly stronger than the older ones.
