I know some people are pretty anal about their car upkeep, so what is your "procedure" for washing your car? What chemicals, wax, soap....etc do you use?

Personally, for the truck or the satty, I pressure wash it in my driveway to get all the heavy dirt off. This includes under the hood, and inside the wheel wells. Then I actually take it to a place on Howell and Rawson ave, its a touchless wash that uses hot water. It always does a great job, provided you get heavy dirt off of it first. After that, if its my truck, im done, aside from maybe windexing the windows, wiping down the wheels, and once a month I polish the chrome bumpers because otherwise they get waterspots on em that just won't come off otherwise. If its the saturn, I might claybar it, or if thats been done recently, I use some techwax.

Start with the wheels first, clean inside out, then hose down the jeep, some form of meguiars or similar soap, start from the top of the truck, then hood, fenders, upper doors and windows, tail gate, front bumper, lower doors, rear bumper, and finish with the side sills and inner edge of wheel wells. Only use linear strokes, no circles, sides are done from front to back, same with hood, tailgate is top to bottom. Hose off, california water blade, dry with waffle weave MF, then drive around the block for drips, spot dry as necessary, wipe wheels with damp MF, quick detail entire car, unless wax is necessary, including wheels.

Low pressure garden hose and good soap and a wash mit, and all the other compound, waxes, lotions and clay bars and crap.
I dry with a leaf blower. :loser

I mostly use all the Meguiars junk and have found it to be more than adequate for my old hoopties. :thumbsup

see, especially on the black saturn, id prefer to use a touchless wash.

With Black, the touchless washes always leave the hazy grime on there still. I've yet to find one that will get that off.

always entertaining, but they never get the car clean. I guess if they are in bikinis on a hot day, it doesn't matter.

I don't hand wash the car as often as I used to. I just keep up with it with a detailer spray. If I do wash it, I usually just run it thru a touchless wash and then hit it with the detailer.

Spray down wheels with hose. Scrub them down with Purple Power or other strong degreaser, including the tires too. Rinse off wheels and entire car with hose. Use a mf washmit and cool water/car shampoo and go over the entire thing top to bottom quickly. I use a seperat mit for the lower parts of the car and in/around the wheel wells. Rinse everything off, waterblade the main parts, leafblower to dry the rest, and spot dry with a towel.

once the car is dirty I consider the paint to be contaminated and proceed to repaint entire vehicle. repeat as necessary.

Depends on which one I'm washing.....The Olds I use soap (Blue Coral) and water, then spray-detailer or wax, the Camaro is a whole 'nother story. Maintaining flat-black is the biggest pain in the a** ever. You have to clean the whole car with a shop towel lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. In the shade. Or it leaves streaks from sun-heat. Plain water works ok too, but for fingerprints, etc, has to be alcohol. Oh, and then wax on the glossy hood. Looks cool, but is exhausting.
