SLP headers... Flex pipe sounds awefull.

Suggestions? I think someone here has dealt this before. Taking the rear header off it not very desirable.

I've wrapped mine with header wrap, and it quieted it down some.

Other than that, you're going to have to replace it. And if you put TOO much of the wrap on, it'll rub/bang against the exhaust tunnel.

EDIT: If you drive the GTX in the winter, the pipe will rust a lot quicker since the wrap will trap all the salt soaked moisture in it. That pipe is pretty exposed to whatever to drive over. I cant remember if the flex pipe is stainless or not.........

never sell a car to a "friend"... he's making all the issues with the car my problem. And since he still owes me money on it, I'm trying to keep things on good terms.
<lesson learned>

The downpipe was very well wrapped. It's probably more like a huge hole but being muffled by all the wrap. It's a shit design and/or crappy material (the flex pipe).

If I remember that flex isn't stainless..
What Brian said is spot on otherwise.

The SLP flex was total crap. Every single person I knew who had those headers complained about the flex leaking/breaking. I'm not sure if it will bolt up to SLP headers or not, but here's link to the TOG downpipe. The flex on it it is 100% better.

Using a double-braided stainless flex should eliminate your problem, just make sure to get the correct diameter for the rear header being used :thumbsup

I have a flex pipe meant to bolt up to TOGs that was never installed if you are interested. Not sure if that would work but just throwing that out there.

Wisconsin Muffler has various universal flex pipes that they'll cut and weld in for them. I took a car there and they did that. Saved me a lot of $$ over an OEM type part...
