I stopped on the side of the road on my way home from work and tried to take some pictures of the lightning. I didn't use the tripod because it was rain hard off and on so I had to just shoot from the car and tried to hold still. Some are ok. Just thought I would share.

Looks cool.. Yea how are you doing that? Just a continuous shoot and hoping you catch something?

I set the shutter speed to stay open as long as the camera will stay open for. I beleive it was like 5 seconds or so. I'm pretty sure that I can set it so it stays open longer but haven't figured it out yet. I wish it wasn't raining when I was doing it so I could have gotten out and used the tri pod. The lightning was awesome to watch. Good night for taking pictures.

If you don't have a tripod with a quick release I would suggest it. They are great to use in situations like this when you might have to seek shelter quick.

Also, look for a B or Bulb option in the camera. Usually that is what the camera needs to be set on to keep the shutter open for longer periods of time.

I was trying to find the bulb option but couldn't find it. I didn't have the manual with me and the camera is still pretty new to me. I do have a quick release tripod but I didn't get it out. It was raining off an on, also there was quite a bit of traffic on the road I was on. I had just left work and it was lightning a lot so I just pulled over. Can't wait until I can be more prepared and figure everything out on the camera!
