Well after finally getting the lugs off, I had a chance to roll/pull the fenders a bit and get the new rims/tires on. The paint cracked a bit at the fender fold, but that was sort of expected with the really cheap paint job the previous owner gave the car. There are tons of little blemishes all around the car so I think it will have to get painted this winter anyways. :fire

Without further adu here they are:

Fantastic!!!!! I love the rims.

Everyone might think Im nuts, but tires are a little wide for my taste.

Excellent s14b tho.

Yea I think it is a combination of the tires being very wide AND the offset being too aggressive. I LOVE the way the rims look. Looked better than I imagined. However, I honestly just wish the offsets were a little less aggressive, then I would still have a lot of tire, but it wouldn't look like it was pushing out so much.

Its a shame too because I had to roll the fender a fair amount and I still had at least a full inch of clearance on the the coilover side. Kind of scary because that means I could probably fit a 305 or something back there if I really wanted. :wow

The back rims are 18x9.5 +20, and I think the sweet spot would have been the same tires (maybe 275s just to get a little narrower) with a +35 offset. O well, you live and learn.

I must admit... I wish I could have forked over for the emotions, but honestly my pockets weren't that deep. Especially since the tires alone were over $800 :fire , so it cut into the wheel fund a bit.

They are Rota Torques (sometimes labeled Torque-F) in the front 18x8.5 +25. Honestly those fit absolutely perfect, and have 245/40/18 Nitto 555s on them. Wouldn't change a thing in the front.

In the back they are the Rota Torque-Rs ("R" for "Rear" which you can tell by the deep concave) at 18x9.5 +20 with 285/35/18 Nitto 555Rs on them. My real issue here with the wide tires was that I was limited by the selection of DRs. I was really torn between the 555Rs, ET Streets, and BFG DRs. But in all honesty the car is a true STREET car. I have put over 3000 miles on it already this summer, and it may make it out to gingerman this year as well. So I figured I would trade off a bit in flat out straight line grip, for more treadlife and tighter sidewalls for a road course. This is why I ended up with the 285s since that is basically all Nitto offers.

As a side note, I'll run it at the drag strip first as it sits on the 555Rs and if I really need more (and care to drop the money into it) then I'll get a cheapy set of rims and throw some slicks or ET Streets on them. For now I'll just fool around on the street with the DRs.

Flick, yea Rota is probably the only cheaper wheel I feel comfortable putting on my car. Fairly light, well made, and reasonably priced. I think they just recently started getting more aggressive with their offsets. In fact I initially ordered +28, but they discontinued them in favor of the +20s.

HAHA... Yea I had to poke a little fun, I figured you would respond. Yea I may change rims or more likely get wider fenders which should even it out as well. This car is the daily driver for now so I can't get too crazy, but how about next RSD we set something up. Pump gas, DOT tire to pump gas, DOT tire heads up. It doesn't need to be for cash if you don't want, just curious to see how it stacks up against the POWA of the neon.

?? Good question, never had it dyno'd. Only real gauge I have is cars I have fooled around with on the street. With its weight (just under 3000lbs) and how it stacked up against those cars I would assume somewhere between 400 and 500 at the wheels.

looks real good. I agree though that the rears are a hair too wide maybe?? The offset DOES look mean though. I love the color of the car too BTW! Good work

It's an import, you can't get anything else, unless you go custom... it's just 100x cheaper/faster to get your off the shelf grapefruit launcher. :P
