I looking to get another Yamaha ATV to add to my Raptor 700 and Blaster fleet...I'm only interested in a Yamaha 450 YFZ or a Yamaha Banshee 350...

Both have strong points and I know the Banshee is faster but, I still wanted to see what you guys thought....

So, 2 stroke wicked azz fast Banshee or 4 stroke 450 YFZ ????

well, it really depends what you are doing with the machine. Ive spent many hours on both, i owned a banshee for over a year and trail rode it as well as raced it MX. Stock for stock they are the same speed roughly, but put a set of pipes on the banshee and it will rape the yfz, the banshee does lack in suspension, it sucked on the MX track compared to the yfz. but it rocked on the trails, so it really does depend on what type of riding you do.

I have owned BOTH. The YFZ 450 is your winner. THe banshee was fun, but not nearly as fast or fun to ride.

That banshee had carb issues. When it was fixed it woke up!

banhsee:headbang I spent too many years in the desert...... do a big bore kit, pipes, carbs, ignition, extended swingarm, foot gaurds, wide axles swap, clutch gears, ect..... that thing will go like hell :wooo

haha, you dont even need that much, pipes alone will make it untouchable by other machines, I think i would personally get the suspension dialed before much motor work

i personally like 250r's. I have one for sale if your interested. it will beat the banshee and the 450. Any ways back to your question. Banshee all the way. I have riden both and i prefer the Banshee. I have a love for two strokes. And if you get one. Buy the Trinity carb kit it makes them into one carb and it allows you to tune them easier.

hmm, i dont think that was me. i havent had the predator up there in about 3 years, I had the banshee up there 2 summers ago. you might be thinking of 70 challenger, he also has a predator and also rides up there..... with everyone riding the rapids, i think a BCM ride up there might be a good idea :thumbsup

I think you guys are giving to much credit to banshees. They are not that fast out of the box. A 450 will eat them. I have seen modded banshees lose to stock predators and 450s. Once you start the big bores etc they become awesome straight line machines. I think most people will like the powerband of the 450 for wi riding. From my riding experiance i would only get a banshee to build a drag quad.

then mine was a fluke, pipes only and i would eat yfz, raptors, and out of the box predators are garbage, i have $1900 into my motor to wake up my predator. a set of pipes on a banshee and it will be very hard to catch.

Seems like you had a weak predator. Mine with a pipe clamp on carb rejetted and cdi was a beast. I used to ride with only banshees and a guy with a 400ex who later got a yz450. Both banshees were modded with toomey pipes cool heads boost bottles etc and I could beat both of them in a straight line and own them on the track. The yz450 with a pipe and airbox plus jetting could pull me and was a better track machine.

/\/\ thats pretty impressive, on the mx track i can see, but straight line is pretty tought, especially since the predator motor lacked in bottom end, when i put the slip on and air filter on and re jetted it it did help out a bit. what year did you have, and did you have a TLD?

HP ADDICT
06-13-2008, 10:52 PM
I have a 03 non TLD. I also have a 1 size up rear sprocket on it. How do you say a predator has less low end then a banshee? Did you get yours used? Since your rebuilt is maybe it was hurt?? You still have yours? I would be curious to see how well mine can hang with yours on the stock bore.

mine was also a 03 non tld, i did get it used, i was comparing the low end to a yfz or 450, i was one up in the front as well. the motor did eventually get hurt and failed, so i did the 558 BBK with polish/port and high comp piston. still waiting to fire it up.

HP ADDICT

Well 1 up in the front will kill your low end. Mine felt like it had more low end then the 450s. They would slightly pull away on the top. Though this was before I put on the cdi which gave me a few more rpm.
