ok.....was going to put this to a poll...but the list would of been long...was sitting here listening to some OLD tunes i have...and got me to think of this question....you have BONNIE RAITT,CHUCK BERRY,SRV,CHET ATKINS,EDDIE VAN HALEN,ERIC CLAPTON,BUDDY HOLLY....plus a shitload more....but my pick would have to be...weather it is liked or not...LES PAUL..:thumbsup

who do you all think is the best...alive or dead.....remember JIMMY.....


and...for a bonus....what else was LES PAUL known for....

Les Paul invented the Electric Guitar.

OTHER then that....the guitar he invented was called a solid 4x4 as it was called..and he put fake wings on the sides to make it look like a reg guitar...fender tried to dupe it...gibson as well...less worked with them...but they could never get the LES PAUL SOUND.....but he is know for something else...good try dave...:thumbsup

written transcribed and played differently everytime by himself. prince played and song written by someone else. greatness never goes outta style when people cheer your name 30 years later for the same solo you know your great

Its one of my favorite songs. I just dont think either is greater than the other. Eddie or Prince.:thumbsup

Just watched a program on MPTV/PBS 10 about Les Paul and NOBODY would be what they are without him and his contributions.....

I dig all of the guitar players mentioned, especially Eddie VanHalen, Carlos Santana, and John Petrucci. But I have to agree here. Joe Satriani is the only guitar soloist I've ever paid to see. Best rock guitarist, hands down, IMO.
