when i try to enable and start this feature i keep getting error 1058 that it is not associted with any devices.....i just reinstalled windows on my hd so it has default settings pretty much not sure how to fix it so i can update windows.

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the right pane, double-click Automatic Updates.

3. Click the Log On tab.

4. In the You can enable or disable this service for the hardware profiles listed below box, click the current hardware profile, and then click Enable.

5. Click Apply, and then click the General tab.

6. Click Start, and then click OK.

my profile is enabled and it still won't start in auto or manual. my bits is started and so is the event log which i know need to be turned on as well.

just says installation failed.....i'm trying to see if windows update tech support will help.

fixed it. must have been some sort of spyware/malware program that spybot didn't remove. windows update tech gave me another spyware program that deleted whatever it was and now everything is working fine. thanks for the help though.
