Took the day off work and my Dad and I busted some ass today on the car. I think I spent 4-5 hours under the car degreasing/prepping the surface.

Did you thin it or use a big tip on the gun?

I brushed all the rust on my 83 Starlet 3 yrs ago now, there
is no sign of rust still today and I havent even coated or
sanded over it yet.....ya Im slow.

what exactly is POR 15? It looks like it almost has the texture of line-x or somethin.... is it like paint or more of a rubbery consistency?

Looks good. Not sure if you've used por-15 before but I've learned its all in the prep. They kind of make it sound like you can put it on rust and be done, but some things I did years back (almost 10 years now) started to rust a little after a few years with poor prep. Stuff that I prepped nicely has held like a rock, of course none of it has seen salt since either which helps.

I agree. I didn't prep my K-member well the first time and I literally could pull the Por15 off in sheets like it was saran wrap.

That stuff works awesome, ive done frames with it in the past. You can smack the shit out of that stuff with a hammer and it wont chip for shit. Pain in the ass to spray though, kept clogging up my guns and its hard as hell to clean out. I ended up brushing it on the next time.

That's how a car should be built. Off to a great start. 3M Panel Bond by the way Andy. I am sure you can use the gun for a few days too.

The car is rust free to begin with. We scuffed downed everything to remove the shine from the paint and then spray/wipe/scrub it with a very stronger de-greaser/de-waxer (I forgot the name of the stuff, I'll ask my Dad).
We didnt do anything special to the gun to get it to spray. Although it did not work in a small gun at all. We did not thin it down at all. In fact, we were able to turn down the pressure pretty low to do tight areas (turn the back knob all the way clockwise). Now there was plenty of overspray. Scrubbing your face with lacquer thinner is lots of fun. My forearms are covered in overspray. You cant scrub it off. You just have to wait a about a week. I must have a greasy face because it did manage to come off it.

I bumped my head under the car, and had a gob of por15 in my hair. I was able to pull it off my hair in the shower.

The surface has to be clean of grease/oil or it will fisheye or separate from surface.

I did the rear end on my truck last summer with it and figured it would come off the skin with lacquer thinner so I didn't take much notice to it on my hands, arms and specks on my face until I tried to get it off. I tried everything(gas, alcohol, paint thinner, kerosene, adhesive remover, goo gone and whatever else was on the shelf) to remove it and it doesn't come off.. Lacquer thinner on the face burns :rolf

Indeed... I have no clue why it actually came off my face. I had a big outline of where the face mask was. If you hit it with lacquer thinner before it dries, it will come off. But your screwed after that.

I only sprayed 1 liberal coat.

Pint............ $29.95
Quart......... $44.95
Gallon........ $143.00

You better plan on masking off anything in the room you don't plan painting again. Over spray will happen.

I may consult you. I have the money for LSx and I have a working rotary. It's a tough choice

Hey dude,
if you get rid of the rotary, give me a call.

That might be a sweet option for the Fiat.
