But my baby is home.:)

Drove it home tonight, everything is running well. I have a few issues to handle over the next week.

-Idle is not the best, especially when it is cold. Im ordering a new IACV.
-Starter is acting up. Does not work at times even though I had it rebuilt. I will take it off Fri and have it checked where I had it rebuilt at.
- Needs new transition hose by the throttle body. Was cut too short, and I want a pretty blue one anyways.;)
-Small leak at the power steering hose. Easy fix.
-Needs new tires. I didnt have the car on jack stands and flat spotted the tires. No biggie I wanted new tires anyways.:goof

I want to thank the people that helped me get this thing together.

-Donnie at ALLABOUTSPEED, who slid the motor in and did the hookups and tech work on it.

-Larry and Coop. Larry let me clean all of my parts at Mill Road Tire and Auto. Coop got my lower pans hot tanked by him.

-Bob Usler at Rapid Fyre LLC. Bob did amazing work on the head and assembling the rotating assembly. I highly recomend him to anyone.

-Last but most certainly not least, Russ Gerome. Russ and I assembled the rest of the motor. Russ also ported my Intake Mainifold to accomodate my new throttle body. Without RUSS this thing would not of been put together as well as I think it has been. He is one amazing mechanic.:wow

Here is a pic. I still have some cleaning up of wiring and vac lines to do before its looking how I want it to.:thumbsup

S14s FTMFW! Everything is SOOO clean, looks amazing.

Manifold looks nice, as does the throttle body, intake, piping, etc. Only thing I am not a big fan of is the breather by the turbo. I'd bet with a steel braided line going to a catch can it would look even better.

So what exactly is done to that thing now, care to share? Built bottom end?

Not really too sure about his exact setup but I'll give you a small background and info since you asked and I am bored waiting for the laundry to get done.

The 240sx (all years) came with a NA 2.4L... The chassis is great however the engine was honestly pretty underpowered. So there are a few different methods that people will take to make power with a 240.

A) Swap the 2.0L turbo engine from the same car that was sold in other countries (Japan, Australia, Indonesia, etc)... This is the SR20DET. Its a fairly easy swap, since it was designed for the chassis, and the stock internals can hold into the 400whp+ range with all the supporting mods and a good tune. Light engine, fairly high revving, great dynamics, all around a great engine for the car.

B) Turbo the 2.4L that came in the car. This is commonly referred to as a KA-T (since the stock engine is a KA24). This is also fairly straight forward, and surprisingly enough the stock internals on the NA have been known to hold 300-400whp fairly reliably, and when you put good internals in the KA24, the sky is the limit. Ivan at SP I think currently has a KA-T into the the low 9s... might actually be 8s by now - I haven't really been following it.

C) Swap other various Nissan engines in. Typically the next most prevalent swap would be the RB series engines from the various skylines, all straight sixes between 2.0 and 2.6L. However I have also seen people swap in the 1.8L from the 180sx, and even other engines such as a the VG30DETT from the 300zx, or even the VH/VQ series engines from the newer Nissans.

D) Swap in engines from another manufacturer. Most popular would be the LS1. Awesome swap. Others have swapped the 1JZ from the MK3 Japanese Supra, or even the 2JZ from the MK4 Supra. Again sky is the limit.

So in any case just judging from the picture. It looks like Dave did option A. He swapped in the SR20, and is in the process of building it. Likely intake, exhaust, larger intercooler, exhaust/intake manifolds, bigger throttle body, I'm sure some fuel and some tuning. Not really sure what turbo is on the thing, since its a bottom mount manifold and its tucked down there pretty well. Could be stock, but likely not :headbang

Wow thanks for the write up there. I think my head hurts now from all that info. Definitely a lot of different scenarios to go with in the import scene. It probably also helps that the car is pretty lightweight compared to like most V8s out there. Interesting stuff to know

good description, and yea this is why 240's are such a gem, so many possible swaps and routes you can take.

As for daves turbo setup, I know what it is but I wong give details because thats up to his discretion. Its far from stock
