Just wondering what car insurance everyone has...

Mine just went up $12 for no reason at all. I even asked them why and I couldnt get a straight answer from them... And yes $12 is a lot with the economy were having right now.

I'm just wondering if they raised it cause I wouldn't by a life insurance policy.
BTW: I have State Farm

Speaking of which, is what im paying decent for my age/truck

05 Cummins Heavy Duty everything

20 year old male

No past offenses (knock on wood)

Full Coverage $1000/deductable

$1800/year

I liked paying $875/year for my last car under my dad's name but due to having bought a new truck it HAD to be in my name....not my choice, but the Insurance said it did.

I talked to the agent today and he said with me looking at buying a beater, i could put the beater in my dad's name (so maybe 100/year for liability) and put the truck as Pleasure/work driving and it would save me $700/year!

So $1300 +/- for my truck i think would be a steal for my age.

29 year old male.

several bad speeding tickets in the past, nothing in the last 5 years though.

Allstate insurance since I was 18

Full coverage on 2 vehicles

2005 escalade ext $1000 deductible - $74.25/month
2006 mazda6i $1000 deductible - $9/month

I thought sure my agent was wrong when he told me $9 a month for the mazda. He said well, "you can't drive both vehicles at the same time can you?" "the second, less expensive car is very cheap to insure because it doesn't drive itself."

I had to insure the more expensive vehicle as the "daily" driver because thats how the bank said it needed to be done when I got the loan.

No comment on insurance rates, even though I think I've got a good rate for what it is... :rolf

Then again... Male + 23 + 310hp Mustang + My Driving Record = FTL :rolf

Then again, they said pur total bill is going to go down more than 2/3 in August when we get married, since Kristie's accident will drop off, and two of my tickets will as well, plus the marriage discount...

I have AAA insurance. Not bad. I'm 27 and pay $80 a month for 3 cars. The cobra is on my dad's insurance. ($11 dollars a month for a total hooligan car. nice.) It feels good after all those years of paying $150 a month for a beat up fox body to finally see good rates.

I've been with American Family for about 6 years and I have absolutely no complaints. My driving record was kind of lousy when I started with them, but my agent has lowered my rates as quickly as possible. My wife and I now have perfect records and we pay ~$150/mo for full coverage ($500 deductible) on an '04 Trailblazer, '04 Grand Prix GTP, and my '99 WS6. The service is outstanding as well. They're always reviewing my account to see if they can lower my rates and they know me by name when I call. Before I can even tell them the reason I'm calling they ask how my kids and wife are (they know them all by name) and which vehicle I'm calling about (they also have those memorized). This is the Terrie Taff agency in West Allis BTW.

I have Acuity and they've been decent price wise. No claims yet to deal with besides a chipped windshield that they covered for free.

I suggest shopping insurance around every couple years just to make sure you're still getting good prices. I was with the same agent that my folks had for like ever. I started thinking that my rates were a little high so I shopped around and ended up getting like $200 less per year quotes. So I ended up switching. Then that agent contacted me and told me he could knock his price down $250 from what it was. I was a little peeved that he didn't do that to begin with instead of just jacking me every year. So now I check just to keep them honest.

i have american family for everything. overall i am pretty happy with them. i think i could find a little cheaper rates but i am not sure. this is what i roughly pay. i am 25, married with a kid, own everything that i have outright, and have no tickets on my record anymore.

07 mustang full coverage policy with $55,000 replacement value coverage = $60 per month when in use and $6 per month when in storage
05 expedition full coverage policy = $700 per year
07 snowmobile year round full coverage policy = $210 per year
03 atv year round full coverage policy = $140 per year
06 milan full coverage policy = $780 per year
vacation house and primary house insurance combined = around $550 per year i think!?!

edit: i do have one complaint. we pay by the month on most of our policys, and our mailbox is littered with bills and statements. their online pay sucks. i have asked if we could get one master bill and they said that they cannot do that. that is my only real complaint.

The only problem with the "cheap" places is that you probably won't have insurance if you do have an issue.

I have to disagree on that . Progressive handled my claim very well. Gave me a lot more than what I thought they would give me from my accident. I got $2800 for damage that appeared to be under a grand.

X eleventy billion. I had Progressive when car got broken into a few years back. It was the biggest nightmare I've ever experienced trying to deal with those people to get the claim handled. It took like 4 days just to get the car looked at and have them do an estimate. Progressive can feast on my taint.

Ok maybe I shouldn't complain then after seeing everyones rates.
Mine used to be 63.00/month= $378/ 6 months or $756/year.

Now its $74/month= $444/ 6 months or $888/year.

Theres full coverage on the Impala and partial on the Camaro.
Now having my rate go up $11 with no reason is uncalled for, there are less motorists on the due to high fuel prices.

I've had American Family from when I first starting driving until earlier this year when I switched.
I work for Johnson Bank and we have insurance agents here that work with over 200 different companies. So I had an agent look over my stuff and she saved me a ton of money! Plus if I don't make any claims I get a percent of what I paid back at the end of the year, every single year I don't make a claim! Can't beat that!!

Through AmFam I pay ~$200 per month for my house, 3 cars, 2 ATV's, and a 32' travel trailer. I haven't shopped my policy in a while but I think the rate is fair. Never had a claim in 10+ years and no tickets either. Maybe I should go out and hit something so I can get some of that back and feel good about the $20K+ I've given them in the past decade... :goof

My 2 piles of old junk are insured through Hagerty. The premium on that policy is like $250 per year for the both of them.

Unnecessary raise of rates? I don't have the same insurance, but I feel you on that. I had my six month insurance go up about 30 bucks from one period to another for no reason. I didn't quite understand cause I'm over the 25 year old mark, have absolutely no tickets ever, and it's just liability on a neon. That's on AmFam. My next insurance period is coming up and I'm lookin' to get my Typhoon (which will spend 5+ months in storage) insured with full coverage and if they can't offer me something reasonable between the two I'm going somewhere else.

These are the exact reasons I went with one of the insurance agents at work. They are independent and will work with over 200 companies to get you the best price and coverage. They won't automaticly sell you whatever insurance company they work for. I'll never understand going to one of agents.
