i just ordered a hooker muffler for my 240sx. and its really really loud. i woke up my mom last night when i came home :rolf but i just don't want to get an exhaust ticket. and brookfield has already gave me one for my jetta which isn't even as loud as the 240 one.
does anyone have a hookup on silencers or know where to get one? and not a really expensive one.. the box that the muffler came in said they have silencers available but i looked on their site and couldn't find a specific hooker one.. so i don't know what to do.
thanks!

i called summit racing (where i bought it from) they had nothing. i called holley and all they have is a 10in tip w/ resonator and i don't want that. lol.

Are you planning on doing this yourself or having a shop do it?

A shop can find something, just tell them what you want.

Otherwise, for a custom job, just try all the big names: hooker (already tried), borla, bassani, flowmaster, magnaflow, etc.

You can get reducers/expanders, though it's more ideal to find the right size (since they're extra money).

I have used these before with decent results. I'm actually going to do a friends car with these and was thinking of getting some before and after vids.

Farm Fleet sells factory mufflers. They are cheap. And then it sounds like it should.

the muffler i'm guessing has a 3" tip witch you cannot get an adapter for the tip and put a silencer in i'm kinda confused at what the muffler looks like but i would try the cone DRK was showing ya i believe those go in the inlet side tho correct?

you can always throw a resonator up the exhaust a little from the muffler... quiet the exhaust down before it gets to the muffler... that's what i did on my daytona... since it was 3" from the turbo back with no cat, and a muffler you could see through... ;)

car has a 2" pipe a stock cat and a stock resonator and then a 3" muffler that you can see through.

'nother resonator... or perhaps remove the stock one and put the aftermarket one in...

you've heard my car flick... sounds good, right? 2.5" piping with cat and muffler... can't imagine how liz's car is any louder than mine...

i don't really care that its loud, its the fact that im mostly gonna get a ticket for it being that loud b/c BF cops are di*ks.

but. nick and his cool ways of being on every forum found me a stock exhaust for 40 dollars. so i might do that.

CobaltSS Tuner (Jordan) might have one. I know that he had a silencer from his megan catback and he doesn't have it on his car so hit him up. The silencer will make it sound like complete ass but it will be quiet.

Every 4cylinder I've heard has sounded like that. Or like a long dragged out fart.

That is just because 4 bangers don't sound good in general and most people with exhausts don't believe in resonators.

My 4cylinder wasnt raspy or farty, but then it was going threw a turbo first. I lost my silencer while racing a white spoiler-less evo last year.... it was a tight fit, so I never put the bolt in. Ooops. Mine was just really loud w/o the silencer.

(actually, I lied.... the stock exhaust was raspy with the built motor)

you guys are just listening to the wrong 4cyls, this bad ***** pegged a 1000hp dyno in 1971 and had 2000rpm to go.

About twenty years or so ago, we used Supertraps. They can be tuned for performance or quiet or anything in between.
